My Life is a Cartoon

Maybe my life is not a cartoon, but I do like to draw little cartoons about some of the things going on in my life.

Things Change

Sometimes it seems like nothing will ever change in our lives and then they suddenly change completely in a split second.

Quote: All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another. - Anatole France (this one was really not longed for)

My strength is small

I actually thought that was okay, because I was trusting God to be strong for me. However he might like for me to be a little stronger.

Quote: Just as the body cannot exist without blood, so the soul needs the matchless and pure strength of faith - Mahatma Gandhi

Lowering the level of my lawn

I need to get my mower fixed or get another one or borrow one once before winter, but..... I decided to try using my weedeater to cut the lawn. I have often wondered why people don't do that.

It may be because it throws grass all over you. I did about half the yard and will try to get out early in the morning to get some more of it.

A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken. - James Dent

forcing myself to be social

I think that if you read my blog you probably think that I am very busy and that's true, but it's not the same as being social. I don't let people get too close in my life a lot of the time.

There is a book study that's been going on for a while and the part they are in today really interesed me, so I'm going to try to make myself go.

But first (and this could be a problem) I'm going to cut my hair. I have this wild idea that I can cut it using a bananna clip and a pair of sissors. I guess there is a chance that I will look so weird that I will not want to go after that ;-)

My neighbors are moving today

It's been noisy today with them putting stuff in a u-haul. I really like them and hope that when I get new neighbors

Chocolate gets me everytime

I was standing in front of a group of people at Church and I wanted to encourage them with this verse. So I said the first part of it because that's all I could remember and I didn't remember where it was in the Bible.

I really don't know the bible very well and so I had to look it up when I came home.

What struck me when I read it is this. When I am doing good and something comes along and I slip up I often don't just get back up and keep going. One of the things I have trouble with is sweets. I like sweets a little too much, much better than say cabbage or carrots or spinach.

I am renewing my effort

To eat healthy. I have been able to overcome my habit of drinking sodas, but the candy is a little harder. Maybe it's because it's been a habit for longer. When I was a just a tiny baby my brother (when my Mom wasn't looking) gave me some chocolate. I didn't really start drinking cokes until much later and didn't really get pulled into feeling like I needed them until I was working and there were vending machines all around.

Well I have got to get ready for work and leave time to think about some healthy snacks for today.

Quote: Intuitive eating is a way to recognize all those influences and learn ways to counter that in terms of hunger and satisfaction. The idea that you can eat what you want is very threatening. But our bodies don't want junk food all day long; they want a tremendous variety of food. - Steven Hawks

Painting Group - today

This is where I am with the painting I've been working on. I need to take a picture of the photo I'm working from and put it here too. It's an old photo from some kind family get together. There are tables in the back ground and people. I wanted to separate out The Girl and her cousin and focus on how he is leaning back into her and holding both her hands.

Quote: It's not what's happening to you now or what has happened in your past that determines who you become. Rather, it's your decisions about what to focus on, what things mean to you, and what you're going to do about them that will determine your ultimate destiny. - Anthony Robbins
