My Life is a Cartoon

Maybe my life is not a cartoon, but I do like to draw little cartoons about some of the things going on in my life.

It's still not a done deal ;-/

I had to sign another paper saying that I was going to move into the house within a certain number of days. We are still waiting for the seller to sign. I also had to get a termite treatment for the house. I could have gotten just a spot treatment, but I don't want "The Leaning House of Moggy" to fall over, so I got a full treatment. The termite guy was really nice, he helped me carry in the table that I had brought over and helped me put the table top on.

I thought I had it

I got a call today that the the house hasn't completely cleared through. I have the key and I have been cleaning over there, but ..... they called and said that there was one paper I was supposed to sign in two places and I only signed it in one. They didn't notice it until later. So I have to go back and sign one paper in the morning.

It's a good thing I took off work, because this is time consuming.

Today the house is all mine

My parents are going to come and see my new house for the first time. I will not be swinging from the ceiling fan while they are there ;-)

One thing I love about an empty house is the way your voice will echo around in it. Yesterday when I was over there I sang and the acoustics were great (not my voice though)

Quote:
“Welcome every morning with a smile. Look on the new day as another special gift from your Creator, another golden opportunity to complete what you were unable to finish yesterday. Be a self-starter. You were not born to fail.” - Og Mandino

Today I go to Closing ;-)

They let me have the key a day before closing.

Do you every find out something that feels like a little nudge from God that he is there? Well they gave me the code to the realtor box to get my key and it was "Cat".

Moggy means cat in England and I think that it was God's way of telling me that this is the House he had for me.

When will I learn

I am not good at following directions because I don't want to spend the time it takes to read them.

I went to a site and paid to just download one song "How Great is our God".

I've never downloaded music before.

After spending 99cents for the song, I ended up talking to Customer Support twice, getting about 6 emails from them. Then deleting the song after I downloaded it. I spent my entire evening (packing <-- No) trying to get this one song on a CD.

I just could not sleep last night

Wednesday I go to closing on the house and I just have way too much on my mind. I want to start painting as soon as I get it, but what color do I paint the walls? I have a few ideas about what to do before I move in. Tomorrow I get the papers to look over.

I'm going in to work early today, because my boss is back from being on vacation for a week and I will be off Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Bowling with Blonds

Yesterday it took us two hours to get through two games.

They really did both have the things to hang their purse on the edge of the table, but it didn't work so well with the bowling alley table, because the chairs are attached.

The blonds are my friends, and I don't think either of them reads my blog ;-)

My New Place

I went by to measure the storage building at the new place and met some people who may end up being my neighbors. It's too long of a story even for my blog, they have a rental contract, but have not moved in yet and may not.

I can't really say what might happen. If I didn't happen to go by when I did I wouldn't have met them. They told me some neighborhood stuff that I needed to know. God really does work in mysterious ways.

If this wasn't my work phone grrrrrr

My X called again and I'm trying to process how I really feel about it. Maybe I have a little more forgiving to do, but..... because I have been learning more about living the last 14 years that I have been away from him. I can see things now that I might not have noticed before.

He doesn't know how manipulative and controlling he is. I can see it now.

When he says "There is no one else I can talk to" I am not flattered. When he calls me sweetie (yuck).

Before this milk goes bad

I will have the keys to my new house ;-) I was just at the store and picked up a jug of milk. I'm not usually one to keep up with dates very well, but I couldn't help but notice that the date on the milk was the day after I go to closing.

It wont be long now.

I won something ;-)

June Hunt came and taught our caregivers at my Church and they drew three names to give something to. I got a CD and book teaching on co-dependency.

Yes, The Cat and I are co-dependent ;-)

I had heard about June, but she was wonderful. She was someone they called to come and train the counselors who were going to work with the 911 survivors.

She had just found out that she had cancer, but she went and helped and never told them about that, because she considered it not to be as important.

Let the packing begin

It's only about a week and a half till they hand me the keys to "The Leaning house of Moggy" and I really need to start packing.

I wish I could tell "The Cat" that were moving, he just thinks that I'm getting out boxes for him to play in.

Did I mention

My X called me on Valentines Day, to wish me a Happy Valentines Day.

He said that he didn't have anyone else to call. He just got a divorce from the last wife. I guess to be fair, she is just wife number 3, but he has also had some serious girl-friends.

I DID NOT say Happy Valentines Day to you too. Sometimes it's hard to know how to respond to someone who wants something from you and you want nothing to do with them.

I's not like love turned to hate, it's more like love turned to "oh gross, what was I ever thinking" I never felt more alone and afraid than when I was with him.

The only good thing about it was that I looked at my life before and my life now. Even though I don't have that "one" someone special in my life. I have a lot of very special someones who are my friends.

Well that was scary

They are cross-training another group on the tool that only a few of us use and I said "At least if I get hit by a truck someone else can do my job" My boss said "you will wish you had been hit by a truck when you get this email I'm sending you".

I was thinking it was something that I had done, or something that I needed to do or something really bad. It was just a system problem and I actually like to track down problems when I can figure them out. So no wishes to be run over by a truck here.

Happy Valentines Day

Remember Some Moggy Loves You.

And God loves you even more than I do.

I'm hoping to hear about the house today and then I will really begin the packing process in earnest. I've been trying to get started, but my heart ;-) wasn't in it.

How could this happen to me?

This morning I didn't have any money for breakfast, so I tried the ATM machine. It wouldn't give me anything. I thought it must be broken, but when I checked with my bank it wasn't the machine. Moggy spent a little too much money on inspections and estimates for "The Leaning House of Moggy".

So how is it that I will be able to afford to buy "The Leaning House of Moggy"? I am going to have to watch my money a little closer. I can tell you that much.

What I really hate is the money they charge you for not having enough money.

I think a mouse has been in my drawer

I had a bag of nuts at work that have been there for a while. Today I got them out to throw them away and it looked like there was a hole in them where something like a mouse had gotten in and ate some.

I may have to take "The Cat" to work with me.

Tomorrow I'm going to take some gloves to work and clean out my desk. I hope I don't find a mouse ;-(

It's a Beautiful Day here today

I had a chance to go for a walk. I really needed that vitamin D.

We had a large group that went to eat after Church and about 10 went to walk after that, Well two went to roller blade and the rest to walk.

It was just beautiful out there.

Church was really good as usual, but as I was walking in I saw someone who looked just like someone from my old church who has passed away. It made me feel sad.

I don't like waiting

I'm expecting the last part of the contract for the house to be accepted, but I haven't heard anything yet.

I really wish they would just let me know. I guess they have their lawyers looking it over.

Gotta make this quick

I have to be off the computer in about 32 minutes for lent. Today I had static cling. It happens to me every now and then. I meant to put lotion on my legs, because that usually works, but I couldn't find the lotion.

I was thinking okay I bet conditioner would work. Well it didn't. I think it was not a bad idea. I just didn't notice what I used was shampoo & conditioner and maybe they cancel each other out.

This will be harder for me than you

I've thought a lot about what I should give up for lent.

So here goes, I'm going to put a time limit, but daily from 6:30 at night to 6:30 in the morning I'm going to give up being on my computer. I'm hoping to still be able to get a daily blog entry, but if I get home late, or sleep late I may not be able to. Hopefully I will be more disciplined and not spend so much time on the computer afterwards.

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." This might be seen as an ancient way of putting the 12-Step aphorism that stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Aristotle wrote at length on what made a person virtuous and what virtue was to begin with. He concluded that virtue is excellence made habitual.

Ash Wednesday

I was reading about Ash Wednesday, because it's not part of my own religious background I've never partaken in it. After reading about it I think I would like to be a part of it.

I doubt I will find a service to go to, but I'm going to find out more about it and pray and think about giving up something for lent.

Super Fat Tuesday

Super Tuesday
+ Fat Tuesday
= Super Fat Tuesday

I'm not sure how they could allow these to both fall on the same day.

First you are not only tempted with a King Cake, but then you have the stress of the elections to make you eat more of it. ;-(

How do I spend my time?

When I got to Church there was a lady in front of me with four little kids and she was brushing their hair. I ran out of time before I left to brush my hair, so I was wondering if I were to sneak in the line of kids, if she would have brushed my hair without noticing. I didn't try it, because I bet the kids would have told her. ;-)

What made me really feel bad, was that after I thought about it, I did have time to try on different clothes, including a hat and bend it around to look like a pirate hat. Maybe it's just that I need to work on my priorities.

Superbowl Party Today

We are having a chili cook off along with the Super Bowl Party. I wanted to try to figure out how to fix something really fancy to take, but I'm going to give up on that and just take something.

I will be very interested to see the commercials. I don't have a TV and so anytime I'm somewhere that has one I'm just glued to it. I will probably get a TV eventually, but it's been nice not having one for the last year or so.

Card from my parents

My Dad found this card and sent it to me. I had told them about the leaning house.

My Mom had asked me if I got the mail and so this morning I got the key and went to the mailbox, but it was completely empty. I came back in and looked all over to see if The Girl, or The Boy had brought in the mail.

In a little while I heard the front door and in they came with the mail. They had gone off and picked up the mail on the way out.

January 08 in review

I like looking back over January to see what, if anything happened.

Week 1 - I had a bad dream that I bought a house that turned out to be a nightmare then I found a house and bid on it, but was nervous about it.

Week 2 - I lost the bid by $66 and didn't think I would ever find as good a deal again.

Week 3 - My truck started getting really hard to crank and I had to get a new battery.

Week 4 - I found an even better house and the lawyers put my name as Betty on an addendum to the contract. I had to sign without making any changes to it. We had to put an addendum to the addendum to correct my name.

Quote: “Every man should be born again on the first day of January. Start with a fresh page. Take up one hole more in the buckle if necessary, or let down one, according to circumstances; but on the first of January let every man gird himself once more, with his face to the front, and take no interest in the things that were and are past.”
- Henry Ward Beecher
