My Life is a Cartoon

Maybe my life is not a cartoon, but I do like to draw little cartoons about some of the things going on in my life.

Rough Start This Morning

At first things were fine. The cat got more attention than usual because he was so sweet this morning, little did I know what that would lead to.
I hope I got up all the glass, but I'm going to go over the floor again when I get home just to be sure. I'm not going to an exercise class today, but I guess cleaning the kitchen floor will be enough of an exercise.

I made it to Yoga today

I'm really surprized at how much I like Yoga and also how out of shape I was. I've always thought that I was really limber and I guess I am for my age, but it's been a while since I exercised.

After I went to Yoga it was dark coming home. The Moon is just that little piece of a moon that looks like a big smile and so it made me think of the Cheshire Cat. I wonder if that's where the idea for it came from.

Inside Joke
This will not make sense to you unless you know the story behind it, but I think the person that this cartoon is meant for will understand ;-D

If you want to see it better click on it for a larger picture.

We had a breakfast here at work today which meant a lot more than cereal this morning. I may have to come up with another strategy. Someone also brought a huge apple pie. I may have to give up on losing weight and see if I can find a way to get taller ;-)

Working on my workspace

I put together a new setup because I had this tiny desk that hardly had room for my mouse even without moving it. I put a quick drawing of my desk, and my new setup for you to see. There are a few problems.

My new work area takes up part of my living room. I have my old desk, living room chair and exercise bike that have been displaced. Now I've got to take a look at how I have things arranged and see if I can come up with a better way. I'm going to try to get my living room back in shape this week. I will let you know how that goes.

[I have a weird code issue going on , so I'm trying deleting the Jan 29th and adding here - it's the copy above this line]

I really do paint

Most Saturday Mornings I am in a painting class, just taking a break for now.

<-- I scanned in the face from one of my paintings, so that part of the picture is real. If you click on the picture you can see it a little larger. We had a great thunder storm this morning - it woke me up earlier than I wanted to get up, but it's been raining since then and I love it.

"I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else".
C. S. Lewis

The picture on the right is one of my favorite even though I painted it years ago. My scanner would only scan about 1/4 of it at a time and so I had to piece it together and it may look a little odd.

Trying something new

<--An animated Image ;-)
I have been seeing more and more beautiful stuff in nature. I spent years not seeing this stuff, but after camping more the last couple of years I began to see it. The leaves turning colors in the fall and then dropping off the trees. Little animals and plants that I didn't notice before. It's like starting my childhood all over again. I know that I did see that stuff, but then as time went by I started to take for granted all the beauty around me and then didn't see it at all. I'm happy to be back where I once was. Not all progress is forward ;-)

I got a ring today and a cross necklace too ;- ) . They were cheep, but they looked good I thought.

Evil Shoes

Okay I wore the toe pinching shoes again today but that's okay, I don't feel bad. I will try to wear some comfortable shoes tomorrow. It's just that I had this presentation to do at work and I wanted to look my best.

The presentation went well and we didn't win, which would have meant having to present again. I forgot to say some of the stuff that I had planned, but still it went well and the questions that I was asked were ones that I was able to answere.

I drove home a little earlier and it was really beautiful. There were these low clouds with a break in them on the horizon that allowed the sun to set and cast colors on the bottom of the clouds - good job God - that was really pretty.

Well now I've got my blog updated and I'm just waiting for the plumber to call ;-)

Another Yoga Class ;-)

This one was not for people with back problems, but it was the same teacher and the same group of people, so it wasn't too bad. There was one part where we were going to do something with partners and there is one man in the class. I had my mat near him, so I thought I would have to be a partner with him, but it didn't turn out that way. I'm not sure if it was fear on my face, or just that I was new, but the teacher put me with one of the girls. We held each others arms down and then put our head between their shoulder blades while they did the wild cat pose and then the dog pose. The picture is of the dog pose.

By the time I drove home it was dark, but the neat thing was that the street lights were shining though the trees and it made me think of how it would look if it were the moon shining on them.

Then I got home and The Boy had bought milk and donuts (crispy creme) I was invited to have one and having the will power over sugar that a cat has over chasing a bird I went for it. Okay, I'm getting back to the cereal soon. ;-D

Happy Toes

I've been thinking that I was going to just have feet problems because my toes have been hurting for about two weeks, but I finially realized that I've been wearing the same shoes for a while (ones someone gave me because they hurt their feet) and I tried some other shoes and now I have very happy toes.

I didn't make it to exercise class, but I did go for a walk around the lake at lunch time.(probably about half a mile) it's got ducks and trees and a path and it's really nice.

I don't always fix supper, but tonight I did. I had some meat that I was going to make stew, but I decided to broil it and had a baked potato and some peas with cheese cut up in them. Okay it wasn't gourmet, but it was good. It also wasn't cereal with milk and half a bananna like I was having for supper. I was being pretty good about that, but yesterday the boy brought home pizza and I somehow forgot about the cereal. I'll get back to it.

I went to Yoga today.

It was an easy Yoga class for people with bad backs and old people, but I still had some muscles that got stretched that haven't been stretched in a while.

Still it was fun and then I used one of the exercise bikes for about 10 minutes. Then hit the showers. I'm not sure why, but I love the shampoo and body soap they have at health clubs. I'm sure I could find something like that to use at home, but it's nice for different places to have special things about them. I did mean to take some flip flop shoes to wear in the shower, but maybe I'll get around to that next time. I'm just happy that I was able to go today.

One more scary movie ;-)

Today was good, although I still have a lot I need to do. Church was so much fun. After I moved I didn't think I could find a Church that I could love as much as the one I used to go to, but I have.

We decided to see one more horror movie, so I rented "The Skeleton Key" This one I would not say is a must see. I don't feel afraid now, but we will see how I feel if I wake up in the middle of the night to some noise. Something like the cat rattling paper near me - which he does sometimes do.

Last night

We haven't had rain in a while and even though it was a little scary after that movie I have always loved rain. I was afraid to get up and look at the clock to see when the rain came, but it could have been around 3:00. I looked out this morning to see how moist the front yard looked and got to see a squirrel run across the road and up a tree and across a couple of houses ;-)

I'm watching a scarry movie today

The girl and I are watching The Exorcism of Emily Rose.
There was some scarry parts and one had cats in it and our cat came meowing at me. That's not unusual, so I don't think it was because of the movie.

It's based on a true story and I will be in Church tomorrow for sure.

If you haven't watched it I would say it's good to see, but you might not want to watch it alone or late at night.

I did it ;-)

I made it to the Health Club. It will be easier next time. I made a few new friends and that will help. I spent about 30 minutes on the treadmill and then about 15 minutes on some machine you peddle. Then I tried out a couple more odd machines. I will probably run by tomorrow when there are less people there and try a few more machines. Not a bad day all and all.

I woke up early. Had a chance to see the moon before the sun came up. I'm the kind of person who sleeps at night instead of running around in the dark, but the night sky is beautiful to me, when I do happen to get a glimpse of it.

We don't have a soul

We are a soul, we have a body.

And it's that body that's giving me trouble ;-)

Did I get up early and go work out? NO.
Did I stay after work and work out? NO.
Did I work late on a spreadsheet and then just when I had it perfect and I was ready to go home, close it without saving it? Yes.

I brought it home, so I can recreate it before work because I really need to turn it in.

We took a group picture at work. There are about 17 of us and to me the result looked like a sea of smiles and then there was me. I was sort of smiling, but I just don't have that big toothy natural smile that looks good in pictures.

It's always a shock to me when I see a picture of myself:
(#1) I look like my Mother and I'd rather not
(#2) I don't look in a mirror much and the picture I have in my head of myself is more like my cartoons.

However hope springs eternal and tomorrow is another day. It may be the day that I make it to the gym and wear those silly biking shorts.

Biking Shorts are funny

I woke up this morning thinking it was really early because the alarm hadn't gone off yet. I thought I was up in time to go to the gym before work, but no. The alarm went off almost as soon as I got up and I'm going to have to set it earlier tomorrow.

I'm going to try to go to a spin class tomorrow and they suggested biking shorts, so I went and got some. I had never seen them before and they have this little padded area which looks rather funny to me. Anyway I'm going to try to make it tomorrow. I'm going to pack my bag and my clothes before I go to bed and have them ready by the door.

Day one of the Blog

Today I signed up at the health club at work. I want to get in better shape. If I try it out for one month I should be able to tell if it will work for me. In the past I have signed up for a health club and not really used my membership. I'm thinking I'll have all this energy and look really good. ;-) Okay, I'm not a young kid, but I still feel good and I don't feel old, so we'll see.

I'm also trying to watch what I eat, so that I can lose a few lbs. I will not post my weight, but lets just say that for now, I would like to be about 10lbs lighter than I am now. I'm trying the thing where you replace two meals with cereal for right now. I'm having a cup of cereal with a cup of milk and a 1/2 of a banana for breakfast and the same for supper. Probably eating a little too much for lunch.
