My Life is a Cartoon

Maybe my life is not a cartoon, but I do like to draw little cartoons about some of the things going on in my life.

Happy Halloween

Today I get a free lunch and free supper and probably some candy ;-) I'm going to try not to worry about it too much. I have got to start eating better though.

They are taking me to lunch at work. I guess it may not be free, but it might be. My birthday is coming up this weekend and for some reason they picked today to go to lunch.

Were having a tailgate party (with food) at the group I go to on tuesday nights and were susposed to wear team jersery's or something like that. The Lord has provided me with a Seattle Seahawks sweater and that's what I'm going to wear. I really don't know anything about sports so I will just take what I get.

I hope everyone has a safe and Happy Halloween.

It's almost Halloween

I will not be home because I'm at church on tuesday nights, but I will have to buy some candy for The Cat, The Girl and The Boy to pass out if some little kids come by.

I will have to buy it today, because I had to wait until the last minute, so that I wouldn't eat it all. I can't buy too much, or I will have leftovers and look like a pumpkin by Thanksgiving Day.

I'm back

Quote: We say we love flowers, yet we pluck them. We say we love trees, yet we cut them down. And people still wonder why some are afraid when told they are loved. ~Author Unknown

I did get to ride in a boat. The life jacket was really stiff and a little too large, so I got the experience not only of being out on the lake, but also I think now I know how a turtle feels in that shell.

The camp site was great and I think we had about 60 show up, which was really nice. There was a lot of talking and getting to know people. I left with a lot more names to go with the faces of people I see at Sunday School.

I went for four long hikes following this girl. She was really hard to keep up with, but the country side was beautiful. The trees were just starting to turn colors.

We even went on one hike after it was dark and we could hear the coyotes howling off in the distance. Then we had to walk all the way back in the dark too. I wish I had one of those meters to say how much I walked. I didn't see any critters except for birds and dogs(not wild ones).

One more picture of how the trees are turning.

Gone Fishing

Actually I don't think I will be fishing, but that rock looked like a good place to fish from.

I will be back Monday.

Two Sweater faux paus

Okay yesterday I borrowed a pink sweater from The Girl without asking, I think she would have let me anyway. After I was at work for a while I began to look at the print. A bell, a snowflake, a Christmas tree, reindeer, snowman - I think you get the idea. I'm not sure anyone noticed because the sweater was a very light pink and the patterns white and not very noticeable, but I tried to stay in my cube most of the day. I guess that will teach me to ask before borrowing anything.

Today I pulled a heavy sweater over my head and left for work. It was warm on the way and I had to run the air in the truck - that should have given me a hint, but no. On the way from the parking lot I noticed a girl in front of me with a really cute short sleeve shirt and realized that it was not cold and I was burning up in that sweater. Lucky for me I had a shirt under it and was able to take it off later.

That's sort of how it is here a lot of the winter one day cold and the next day warm, it's hard to keep up.

New Flavors

I got what I thought was a regular coke out of the vending machine, but one taste told me it wasn't a regular coke.

I read on it and saw that it was a Black Cherry Vanilla Coke.

I don't really know what they put in it, but my guess is it's something like Syrup of Black Draught, Cherry Cough Medicine and Vanilla Extract.

I guess I don't have to tell you that I will not be buying this again on purpose.

I guess there are people who like this taste, but I am not one of them.

Is it Wednesday Already?

I don't think I mentioned that I got 4 new tires for my truck. I didn't like the idea of having tire trouble and the tires were getting old.

I live close to work, but when I'm not going to work, I have a tendency to either go somewhere far away or get lost in the local area and drive around a lot trying to find my way home. I don't want you to think that I am developing Alzheimer's, I've always been this way.

Looking Ahead

I have
been
checking
the
weather
for
camping
this
weekend.

To me this is sort of cold, but it's probably great for everyone else. I will just have to wear a coat. And I probably will want to stay in my tent untill it's late morning and not as cold.

I am glad that it probably will not rain, because I want to put my tent in the back of my truck and I don't want to close the lid on myself. I don't really mind rain when I'm camping, but not if it's cold.

The Table

Well so far I have only painted the top of the table Yellow and the bottom black.

I may do more to it, but I kind of like it this way. The chairs I don't know about. I may paint them black and get yellow pads for them.

I really like yellow.

I also put up some shelves.

The Girl and The Boy have so many boxes of tea that the cabinet is getting quite full and so I told them I was going to name my dining area "Madam Moggy's Tea Room" and put shelves for all their tea in it.

I have done that now and I kind of like it.

I will wait to see what they think about it. And yes one of my chairs is painted red from a previous idea and that same chair was once purple. The other chairs have been able to escape my painting, but not this time. Everything gets painted. ;-)

How are Christians like pickles

Our Sunday School lesson covered this. I have to go out to my truck for the paper on it before I can really write about it very well....

I didn't even know that the cucumber was mentioned in the Bible, but it is in Numbers 11:5. (This has nothing to do with the analogy) I have often thought of myself as being in a pickle, but never as a pickle ;-)

I will try to write about this later.

I'm sort of glad that for the most part we don't think of ourselves as pickles. Some of the old hymns just wouldn't have been the same.

"Have thine own way, Lord!
Have thine own way!

Thou art the Canner,
I am the pickle.

Perserve me and can me
after your will" .....

Sunday Morning

The phone woke me up at somewhere around 4 this morning and I had a stew in the crockpot that had been cooking just long enough to be good. I went ahead and had stew for an early breakfast - put in some laundry (which I didn't get around to yesterday) and I'm going back to bed for a little while. If I can't get back to sleep I will at least be able to meditate for a little while. Meditation is probably as good, if not better than sleep.

I went to the new betta test - we'll see how that goes.

Saturday to-do-list

Today I want to paint my kitchen table. I got a picture years ago of this painted table and kept it and even found [what I think will be] the perfect table to go with my plan. I want you to know that I am aware of just how awful this looks, but the real design is a lot better than this cartoon believe me. What I have represented as dots inside of the black on the top of the table is actually flowers. Anyway I'm off to the store for paint. I also need to do laundry, clean out the fridge and go and help a friend pack for moving.

Well at least I'm trying

I was pretty proud of myself for taking some of those new "Soup at Hand" soups to work because they are low in calories, but when I went to heat it up, some lady pointed out to me that it's loaded with salt. I am going to have to find something else to replace that.

I thought it would be a good idea to take a jar of peanut butter to work and I could get a spoon of that when I was wanting a candy bar.

It worked pretty good the first day, but then on the second day I got the bright idea to stir a pack of M&M's into it. Well of course I couldn't stop eating it until I got all the M&Ms and had the additional peanut butter (which by the way is not that low of calories) also.

Script Writing

Today I was thinking of why TV shows and movies are so popular and I think it is because they are reading from a script. That means they get to say the things that we think of later and say “I wish I had said that".

I will probably not write a script, but I am going to start a little more serious journal on paper. I will put what I can in here as long as it doesn't spoil the mood of my blog too much.

300 million people in the US

And yet I am still single ;-)

I guess there is a chance of finding someone, even if they are one in a million.

The way I figure it, there are 300 people who are one in a million, so all I have to do is find one of those 300 ;-)

Another Cherrios on the floor kind of day

I got a bowl of cheerios, opened up the fridge and saw there wasn't enough milk. Then accidently spilled them all over the kitchen floor.

It's not even daylight yet.

Looks like the beginning of a great day.

Quote:: Every job is a self-portrait of the person who did it. (not sure who said this, but I have a picture in my mind of my face on a cherrio (a honey nut cherrio to be exact :-)

Camera Batteries

I got a card reader for my camera so I can get pictures off of it. I have a couple of times taken the battery out and taken it to the store to try to get pictures made. So I did take out the battery first and try to find a slot where it would fit. I couldn't find a place in my new card reader that it would fit.

In my defense, my battery doesn't look like the one in the picture. It's flat and only about 8 times bigger than the card.

My Painting

This is the painting that I'm working on right now. I have done more on it, but I don't have a good picture of that yet. I'm going to add some color, but not too much.

A very little wild hog

My friend got a picture with his motion activated camera of this little guy. The pole in front of him is the leg to the deer feeder. He is probably 10lbs or less and that's at least twice as small as The Cat. They get to be 300 or more lbs and I would not want to run into one when I was hiking. That or a porcupine. At least we don't have bears near the camp site.

Anyway I plan to go camping somewhere a little more tame in a couple of weeks with my Sunday School class.

It's been raining all day

I could just sleep all day, but I did run to the store and get stuff to put in my crock pot.

I really like the taste of soup that has cooked for hours until all the vitamins are probably cooked out of it. That reminds me I guess I will go ahead and take a vitamin.

I got a new phone

It's portable and has a clip to clip on your belt. Also a headphone and it's really small so it should be easy to move around with it. I talk on the phone so much that I hope this will help me get more done.

It's Friday

I think The Cat has already changed his clock for the end of daylight savings time, so I'm going to have to start setting another alarm.

The weather is starting to get cooler and I guess he just wants a little extra time to sleep.

Invented in Canada ;-)

The whoopie cushion was invented by the Jem Rubber Co. in Toronto Canada around 1940. I actually don't know why this became a success, especially back then. It is nice to know that I am younger than a whoopie cushion.

Have you thought about your Halloween costume yet?

Yesterday and Today

I need to mow, but I have to practice my speech for Thursday. I guess I will mow after the speech, but it better be soon while the grass is not too high for the mower to get it.

I was off Monday and then when I got to work yesterday I had a message on my phone from someone saying they were going to evaluate me. I didn't know who they were, or what they were talking about.

Later I found out it was for my toastmasters and I was susposed to give a speech. I found something that I would like to try, and so I'm going to do a sort of one woman 5 min play. I have to practice today a LOT. I will let you know how it turns out.

More longhorn stuff

Here is a picture of the shower tent that the longhorns tore up.

There is a new one now and maybe they wont get it. The other tent was not left standing and even the one that was folded up inside of it was torn up.

Aso here is a picture of my inside the back of my truck tent.

It was pretty good and I think the longhorns would be less likely to get me. I could even put the tail gate up if I needed to.

I'm thinking of going camping with my Sunday School class at the end of the month.

I will try to get pictures if I do. I will also need to get at least one new tire. The guy who inspected it told me that one of my tires barely passed. I guess I better look at my budget and see if I can buy and tire and still afford to go camping.

________________________________________________________

I took off work today to get stuff done

I did get my truck inspected, but I woke up with a crick in my neck from looking at the internet too much yesterday (yes I know I wasn't going to do that, but I did)

I also read and entire book. I have got to learn not to get so absorbed into things ;-(

Don't worry, it doesn't look bad and only hurts if I turn my head to the right or left. I may go get a heating pad and put on it.

tent destroyer

Here is one captured on camera. It seems they came back, but there was no tents destroyed this time. They came back twice, but now the fence has been repaired and so maybe they will not be back.

Timer

I have been spending way too much time on the computer and so I'm going to try to use my time a little more wisely. To start with I'm going to try to give equal time to doing things like reading and surfing the web and things like cleaning and cooking.

Not sure how this will work, but I have a timer and I'm going to give it a try.

So I have to get off the computer for a while and get my timer set up.

Watching Movies on line

I watched an old movie on http://emol.org/ most of the places on line that are susposed to have movies are hard for me to download.

Anyway it was from the 1930 back when horror movies were not really all that horrible.

Happy Hour

I went to Happy Hour after work today, with some of the people I used to work with before I moved to my new department. It was fun. I only drank coke, but some of them had some pretty interesting looking drinks. One was a bright blue and some had salt around the top. Some of them had beer, which is not so interesting looking.

They also have chips and dip and other stuff that goes along with your drink (actually you pay enough for the drink to cover it). It's a good thing I don't go too often.

A small setback

I had a really easy way to get to work, but it seems they decided to close that road, and I'm thinking they may not reopen it. bummer. I guess The Cat is going to have to get me up even earlier.

Lots to do, after today only two more days to pack up everything in my office for the move.

Wednesday

Last night about an hour after I went to sleep I felt teeth on my foot. The Cat is usually good about waking me up in the morning, but I think he wanted to play last night. At least he didn't bite down.

Today my writers goup is having an author come and speak at our group and that should be fun. I'm going to try to make it to that, so I better get to work and get busy. Otherwise I will end up working through lunch.

one more thing

I got an email today that I am being moved to another cubicle at work. We have to be packed up by next Tuesday Morning.

Actually it's a good thing, I will be closer to the group I work with. When I moved over there wasn't room for me.

I started the tossing out old papers today, that's the best part about moving. I'm trying to toss out a little every day.

________________________________________________________

Static Cling

I wore a really pretty and fairly new dress to work today. Mostly because I needed to do laundry, but that's another story. Anyway I guess I did forget to use dryer sheets on it because it was very clingy.

I didn't really solve the problem all day, but I didn't have a lot of meetings (for once) so I was able to hide out in my cubicle most of the day. I was also able to hope that it was not as bad as it felt by not actually going and lookingin a mirror ;-)

Sorry for the lack of cartoons

I will try to update later. The cat had to really get after me to get me up in time for work. - gotta run
