My Life is a Cartoon

Maybe my life is not a cartoon, but I do like to draw little cartoons about some of the things going on in my life.

My new jacket

Why is this funny, well because I was really tired and the sales lady insisted in taking a lot of time to pull a bag over the jacket with the hanger top out so it could be handled carefully.

It was really windy and just when I got into the parking lot .... it blew out of the basket and straight for a grease spot in the parking lot. I haven't looked at it yet to see if there is grease on it, but I hope not.

I have a weigh in today

I have not been good this week with my eating. They brought a cake up to work one day and the next day donuts. Then I ate out with friends yesterday.

I am going to have to learn to say no to cake and donuts and snickers bars if I want to reach my goal. I'm really not doing too bad most of the time, but every now and then I forget what I'm trying to do ;-)

Starting a Garden

I found a planting calendar online that I think will work for my area. I have missed planting a lot of stuff that I could have planted, but then I don't have a lot of space or knowledge of planting.

So it says that today I could plant Watermelon, Southern Peas, Pole limas, Corn, Eggplant, Peppers, Tomato, Pole beans, Limas, Cukes, Snaps, Half-runner, Squash, Cantaloupe/Honeydew.

I should at least try to plant one or two of these things today. I will let you know if I get anything planted, but first I have to finish lopping off those limbs.

Trimming Bushes

I got a letter from the city that the bushes and trees at my rent house were growning past the fence into the back alley, so I had to go and cut them back.

I got most of it done but not all, so I'm going to have to do a little bit tomorrow.

I have now have piles of branches and limbs that I'm going to have to do something with too.

Welcome to my Home

There are the beginning of a tiny nest on the window by my front door and soon there will be little winged babys flying around from it. Maybe other people don't like dirt daubers as much as I do. They remind me of my childhood. I would run from them at my grandparents house and my cousin once said I looked like one (back in my skinny days)

We looked them up and it seems like they don't sting unless you make them and they kill black widow spiders. So at least for now we are going to leave them in their spot. I may even make a sign "Beware of Dirt Dabbers" ;-) Maybe they would make good watch dogs if I could only train them.

I can't believe she's gone

There was this tree on my way home with a little group of missletoe in it that looked like a little dancer to me. Sometimes when I went past the sun was going down and the sky behind her was all different colors.

I planned to get a picture before all the leaves covered it. I finially remembered to take my camera to work with me and as I drove past...... I could not believe it... they cut down the tree ;-(

Painting Again

I don't even know how long it's been since I painted, but I have been feeling a prompting to get started painting again.

Someone gave me a couple of canvases friday. They have something painted on them, but it wasn't finished and I think I can paint over it. It's not like I don't have something to paint on, I do.

It's more that I think God nudges us with things that happen in our lives to get us going in the right direction.

It didn't sound good to me but.....

I like odd things and I guess I got that from my parents. My Mom told me that they had turned the old boat that was left on the place they bought into a garden. I didn't really think that would look good, but I did think they could grow a "boat load" of vegetables. ;-)

I looked online and found that a couple of people had made boat gardens and they actually didn't look bad.

They had offered to bring a boat and put in my yard. I wonder if I should have taken them up on it?

Book Study

I'm going to try to go to a book study today. I got the study guide, but I need to look for my book. I hope it goes well because I have had the book for a while and just haven't been able to get into it for some reason.

I love books but unless they are fiction (and this one is not) I sometimes have trouble really geting into them.

Knock Knock Who's There

If your reading my blog I would like to know. You don't have to leave a link, just a comment even if its anonymous or send me an email. I know a couple of people look at my blog pretty often, but I wonder if there are some who just never comment.

Do I have to wear green?

Just kidding - I actually like green as long as it's a sort of a mossy green and not some kind of pastel or bright clear green.

I will say I didn't know it would look so good with pink and blue.

I cut my hair today

I was getting tired of how my hair looked and so I cut it a little shorter. I think it looks okay because I went a couple of places and didn't see shocked looks or hear laughter ;-). I may have gotten it a little short, but it will grow.

Altoid Tins

Yesterday I tried putting my cell phone in an altoid tin. It fit perfectly and I felt like it would protect my phone. When I took the phone out it was looking for service. I'm guessing that my phone could not find service inside of the tin. I guess it will not work for a phone holder unless the phone is turned off anyway.

I looked online and saw that people have made all kinds of things out of altoid boxes. The two I liked the best were little shrines and a watercolor box. They also had emergency kits and little electronic gadgets with all the wires and batteries inside.

Okay I have not been posting often

This week I pulled a bunch of old dried plants out of my front flowerbed. There is a lot of stuff starting to grow.

I had a dream that I got sent to England for a conference (that is not going to happen)

I cooked up a bunch of okra one day and some minestrone soup another day. This is only a big deal to me because I dont cook a lot.

I'm trying to lose weight again and so we walked at lunch two days and were going to try to walk three days next week. I lost some weight at the first of the week, but I've been eating a little too good toward the end of the week.

I'm still here

I just haven't posted in a while. The weather has been really nice and I have been wanting to start a garden. I didn't have a garden last year, except for the front flower bed.

I've been deciding between a square foot garden and some kind of earth box or some kind of self watering garden. I will probably get something started Monday.
