My Life is a Cartoon

Maybe my life is not a cartoon, but I do like to draw little cartoons about some of the things going on in my life.

My cousing gave me a picnic table

We couldn't find a good way to get it into the back of my truck and so we ended up letting the top stick out the back. We tied it really good with an old phone cord.

It was tied up so good that it didn't shift at all on the way home, but I still took the back roads, I didn't want the people on the big roads laughing at me. I think it made my truck look kind of funny from the back.

dogs

I went to my cousins house and she has three big dogs. They were jumping up on me trying to get me to pet them. I'm not used to dogs.

When I got home The Cat had his nose on me for a long time trying to figure out where I had been.

Counting Calories

I'm actually enjoying it this time. I haven't varied a lot for about three days on what I'm eating, because

I just have the calories figured out for a few things.

Actually it is more than four, but I have this idea of an abacus where I can slide so much food over that I am allowed to have.

They had ice cream at work yesterday and I did have some, but I figured it into my calories and I didn't get the chocolate syrup or sprinkles. Have you seen how many calories are in just a little bit of chocolate syrup.

This song has been on my mind

I think of this song every four years for some reason. As I listen to it now, I'm amazed at how relevant it still is. It was written years ago, but could have been written today.

I hate politics

Politics make me want to cry. I have such STRONG feelings about who should win and who is such a BAD choice. I wont post that here, because I don't think anyone will listen to reason who has already made up their mind in that direction.

The mainstream media is so partial to one side and has been for years, in my opinion.

If there is something good in all this going on right now. I am much less tempted to watch TV.

Making a list, checking it twice

Maybe I should have included bringing my purse on my list. I was talking on my cell phone and went out of the house and got all the way to the grocery store before I realized that I didn't bring my purse.

It's a good thing I wasn't out of gas and heading for the gas station. I was able to come back home, but it was a waste of time.

Quote:
If a man empties his purse into his head, no man can take it away from him. An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest. - Benjamin Franklin [I think it needs to be said that I have seen a lot of people who this does not seem to be true for, especially those involved in Politics]

trying on wigs

I was at my fancy friends house most of the day for a pampered chef party. After it was over we went to a wig store to try on wigs. You had to put a stocking thing over your hair and they only let you try on three wigs.

I wanted to find a Moggy orange wig, but I didn't see one that looked right.

Friday Face Wash

When I got my makeup done the other day I bought some special stuff to wash your face with, then I have a couple more things to put on my face after I wash it.

I"m having trouble making myself do all that face cleaning/creaming so tonight I was on the phone with a friend and told her. She said "go wash your face and call me back when you finish" so I did. Not sure if anyone will be up early enough to make me go through this again in the morning, but I think I can do it. ;-)

Yeah Wikipedia

"Grace divine is an indispensable gift from God for development, improvement, and character expansion." I did a search for Grace and did not expect to find such a good definition, but I found one on Wikipedia.

I had a chance to present a lesson on Grace last night and while I was getting it ready I realized some of the areas in my life where God has extended grace to me.

When I was young I was so shy.

I could not even try to get a friends attention if they were 3 feet ahead of me and I sometimes could not say a word to someone who had just said hello to me. Speaking in front of people terrified me. Now...... with God's grace to me I can not only speak in front of people, but I actually enjoy it.

Being in a good mood

I got to hear a speaker today who suffers from depression and has found that playing soft uplifting music while he sleeps seems to help. I have been guilty of falling asleep with the TV on once in a while. Who knows what I was listening to all night.

He has an mp3 player that goes into a little pillow and just leaves it on very softly all the time.

Quote: Adam laid himself down in Paradise to sleep while from him was taken a wife to keep. Adam poor father of creation’s best.
Your first taste of sleep was your last of rest. - Matthias Claudius (I don't agree, but I thought this was a cute quote ;-)

Party After Church

Well a Mary Kay Party that is. I really do need to spend more time on how I look. I forget that other people have to look at me. I seldom look in a mirror so I forget what others around me have to look at all the time.

Don't expect me to be wearing makeup all the time in my cartoon because that's just not who I am.

Today was not good

I feel a little down, but it's probably just that I'm working through some things. It's weird because I felt really good for a few day and I've been really busy at work. Maybe I just needed to crash for a day or so. I've got to get my act together and start accomplishing some things.

I watched a few old Fred Astair movies and some other stuff. That should have been inspiring. What I noticed a couple of times was a painting in the background and I realize that I really have to get back to painting. It's part of who I am and I haven't been painting for a while.

or...... maybe I should take a tap dancing class.

Moving again

There have been people wandering down the hall peeking in our cubicles because they found out they were moving to where we are now. They couldn't say why they were there until after someone told us we were being moved. I'm sure there was some one who looked in my cube and was very afraid.
I have let the papers stack up a bit on my desk.

Red Bug Dye

The Boy told me a while back that red M&M's are made red by a dye that comes from bugs. I didn't want to believe it, but at the same time I have not eaten them since he told me that.

I"m not sure if it's true or not, but I did try to find out.

There is a red dye called cochineal or carmine. It is not supposed to be harmful, it's just the idea is a little hard to get used to.

My own Prayer Beads

I bought some beads like these to make a bracelet. I have a small group of girls that I am trying to remember to pray for, so I've taken a bead with the first letter of each name and strung them together as a prayer bracelet.

Not sure how to add strangers, but I guess I could put X's in for them since I don't know any people with X names right now.

Fried Pickles

I had lunch with a guy I've been talking to on line. It was a first meeting face to face and we met at a place that has fried pickles (very good) and also fried alligator (which I didn't try)

It makes me think

Did you ever notice those new reed diffusers air fresheners. Well they make me think of the old Adams family show when Mortisha would take a vase full of roses and then she would clip off the roses.

I just find it funny that it's now the style to have this little vase with only stems sticking out of it. When I first saw one I thought it was really neat and I still do. I finally bought one. It's like having a little bouquet of flowers because of the sent, but the flower tops are missing.

I love this old movie

I always loved the way they used to start old movies with a cartoon. This is only part of it and they have the other pieces on youtube. It's in 11 pieces.

Nobody wants to date a cartoon

I was watching that show "How do I look" and they had a lady who dressed like she was still back in the 60's fur and tyedye shirts. One of the people who were explaining to her how bad she looked said and I quote "Nobody wants to date a cartoon". I couldn't help but wonder if that is true. Not sure I could stop being a cartoon now if I wanted to ;-(

You can't always trust the map

Yesterday I found a place on-line to take the car and so I ran a map of the address.

I drove up and down the road where it should have been a couple of time and then gave up and called them. I was not very near where I was trying to go.

This is not the first time at an on-line map program has gotten me lost. So you can add that to my troubles from yesterday.

Hey everyone look at my inspection sticker

I went to get a new one today because mine is past due about 5 days. The place was like a drive through. The guy marked my inspection sticker with a marker so they would know along the line that I was getting an inspection.

Then when I gave him my insurance paper it was also about 5 days past due. That means I had to drive away without my inspection and with my inspection sticker marked. I ended up behind a police car, but lucky for me he turned off and didn't get me.

It was The Girl's car and I'm not used to it so I went to get food at a fast food place on the way to Church and hit my head on the top of the door frame - ouch. Then I got to church and I was squeezing catchup out of one of those little packets and got it on my pants ;-(

I may have to get rid of the TV

It keeps pulling me in.

I went for a long time without a TV and an even longer time without cable. I know I can do it again, but I may have to go to cable tv anonymous ;-)

It was really hot

I was very lazy Sunday <- but it was really hot. I'm hoping that we get some rain and cooler weather soon.

I need to start walking and I did get a phone call from a friend who wanted to walk.

When it's this hot, it's best to mall walk. We have some giant malls around here.

Class Was Good

It was very inspiring and I am going to try to put into play some of the things I learned.

One of the last things she told us was this quote from Will Rogers.

Time for New Habits

I'm taking an all day class tomorrow on habits. It's about developing self control ;-) Not sure what I will be like with a little more of that and some more good habits.

I can't wait for the class, I'm really hoping that I will get motivated to change some things in my life.
