My Life is a Cartoon

Maybe my life is not a cartoon, but I do like to draw little cartoons about some of the things going on in my life.

It's cold here today

I think the high yesterday was 77 and today it's 32 and not supposed to get above freezing all day.

The Cat is still in bed and I don't want to be up myself. He is doing well on his diet.

Yesterday he tried to climb up and get the ivy. He hasn't done that in a while.

Okay it doesn't pay to run late

I accidently put on some pants that were too big and headed off to work. I didn't have a pin, so the only thing I could think of to hold them up was a binder clip. It wasn't really comfortable, but it worked.

Is it tuesday already?

The Cat has been sneezing since I took him to the vet and so The Girl got a thermitor that you use in a cat's ear to see if he had a temperature. He doesn't seem to be running a tempature, so were still just keeping an eye on him.

Quote: "When my cats aren't happy, I'm not happy. Not because I care about their mood but because I know they're just sitting there thinking up ways to get even.” - Percy Bysshe Shelley

I have Church tonight and will not be home until about 10:00.

Uniqueness

Quote: Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You - Dr. Seuss

Our lesson was on how God made us all unique because we all have a different purpose. It's okay to be who you are because God made you the way you are.

We had three books that were recommended.

* "The Power of Uniqueness" by Arthur Miller
* "Do What You Are" by Paul Tieger and Barbara Barron-Tieger
* "Now, Discover Your Strengths" by Marcus Buckingham and Donald Clifton

I went to a birthday party today

It was fun to watch the kids trying to hit the pinata. Someone was on the edge ot the house holding one end of the rope and another on a storage building in the back yard with the other end. They were swinging it so it was hard for the kids to hit. I waited untill someone knocked it down and candy scattered over the ground. It was fun to watch and I got a bubble gum as the kids were gathering candy from the ground.

Black Friday

Quote: Once again we find ourselves enmeshed in the Holiday Season, that very special time of year when we join with our loved ones in sharing centuries-old traditions such as trying to find a parking space at the mall. We traditionally do this in my family by driving around the parking lot until we see a shopper emerge from the mall, then we follow her, in very much the same spirit as the Three Wise Men, who 2,000 years ago followed a star, week after week, until it led them to a parking space. ~Dave Barry

Because I was cleaning for company and had my shoes sort of all over, I put them all in a plastic crate. Just before my company got here I realized that I could not find even one pair of shoes to wear. [I like to go barefoot a lot] I guess I put the crate away by mistake that had all my shoes in it. My company was stuck in traffic just long enough for me to locate one pair of jogging shoes, and so that's what I am wearing all weekend. That's okay they will come in handy at the mall today.

Thanksgiving

Thought for today - with the stores closed for thanksgiving, my first thoughts this morning were of some things I wanted to buy and then I thought "hey this is thanksgiving, I should be thinking about being thanksful for what I have, not just trying to get more". God knows I have enough stuff.

Today should be interesting. We have a day sleeper in the house, so were going to try to stay out all day and just hope that some places to eat are open.

-------posted later -------------------------
Well we had a really good day, went for a walk at a Nature Center, to a Movie and to friends for a meal. It was really a nice day.

The New Years Diet is Starting Early

The vet put "The Cat" on a diet and I don't think he should have to be the only one, so I guess I will get started on mine too. Poor thing he is not going to understand why he can't eat all the food he wants. I know how he feels.

The Vet said he should weigh 17lbs because he is a big cat, but he is 29lbs and so he has 12lbs to lose. Poor thing.

I'm not saying how much I weigh and how much I have to lose ;-)

I'm still trying to clean house

Quote: Just cause you got the monkey off your back doesn't mean the circus has left town - George Carlin

My plan was to clean like crazy, but I bought a big bucket of soft mints and I thought I would just eat one every so often as a reward.

Not one of my better ideas.

If you know me, you would know that it's not possible for me to restain myself from mints or chocolate, so I'm feeling just a little bit under the weather.

Fear Not

Quote: "I'm afraid to have no fear" from Little Jackie Paper in Puff the Magic Dragon.

The first thing I thought of today was that I need to work on fear. Sometimes it has us more wrapped up than we think.
I know that God is the only one that we should fear (and this is not a bad thing)

Leviticus 19:14 Do not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block in front of the blind, but fear your God. I am the LORD.

I think what this means is that when people are not able to hear and understand what we have, or see things the way we do, then we should not be angry at them.

Today's Lesson was on Eschatology

Eschatology
= End Time

Quote: Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning." Winston Churchill

Some people think that the Rapture will come before the tribulation.
Some people think it will come in the middle
Some people think it will come at the end.
Some people think they are already in the tribulation.
I'm still thinking.

Quote: The day which we fear as our last is but the birthday of eternity. - Seneca

My Kingdom is a mess ;-(

Quote:

A little kingdom I possess, Where thoughts and feelings dwell; And very hard the task I find of governing it well.- Louisa May Alcott

I wish there was an easier way to clean, but if you don't do it all the time, then you have a lot of catching up to do when you start it.

I've done a LOT today, but I still have a lot to do. I am breaking up my time and using a timer and that helps a lot. I'm also trying to plan ahead what I will do, instead of spending the time trying to figure out what to do first.

Saturday Ideas

I have so many ideas in my head this morning, I've got to put them down on paper before I lose some of them. I'm rearanging things in my house and that's part of it, but the ideas are pretty much all over the place.

I think my mediocre mind is having trouble with all my ideas ;-)

It's Friday

Quote: Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing happened. ~ Winston Churchill

Okay I'm trying not to just pick myself up and hurry off. I'm really trying to allow God to reveal Truth to me even when it's not alway what I want to hear. I know there are things in my life I want to change, but sometimes it seems easier to just hurry off as if nothing happened.

1 Pet 2:8 and "A stone that will make men stumble, a rock that will make them fall"; for they stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do.

What to wear?

We are susposed to wear red and white to work today, so I'm not sure what I'm going to wear. I will probably come up with something, but I'm not sure how I will look.

I probably should have ran to the store yesterday to get something, but I was really lazy yesterday and tired. It's so cold and windy right now. The weather is susposed to get better soon.

Arg It be Tuesday

I found a kids radio station on-line that I like. It has a lot of the programs that I enjoy.

It's good to just play when I'm doing other stuff, because the TV just pulls me into watching and then it's really hard to get things done.

I put a link to it on my site, to help me find it when I want to listen.

I'm cleaning today

This made me wonder why when your outside you may see a spider web, but when your inside and cleaning it's a cobweb. I was thinking what exactly is the difference.

The only kind of cob I know of is a corn cob, but I'm sure that's not what it means. Now I see that it was from and old Middle English term.

Cob was originally coppe (as in Middle English coppeweb, 1323) and later cop. It derived from Old English attercop "spider", which was formed from atter "poison" and coppe "head".

I guess I better stop worrying about what things are called and just clean the house.

Who is in control?

Predestination vs Free Will
<-- Don't worry, I'm not really trying to cut the strings as in this cartoon, I'm trying to tie them better.

Today's lesson was what the bible has to say about who is doing what. What in our lives is God doing and what are we doing with our free will.

I am trying to get closer to God and do his will and be more responsible for my own actions, all at the same time.

My Tea Room

A new tea has been added to "Madame Moggy's Tea Room" It says it is "The best tea in the world" and to go with it...

I have some "White Chocolate Apricot Bread" I'm getting so fancy I'm going to have to hold my little pinkie out when I drink.

tap on the shoulder

Do you ever get that tap on the shoulder that sort of makes you look at things differently?

I know it's friday and then the weekend is coming up, but still I felt something this morning.

I hope to spend the weekend doing meaningfull stuff instead of my usual putting things off attitude.

Time Management

Actually I'm not doing too bad. I have tried wearing a watch before, but this time I have almost made it for a week.

Sometimes I have felt like I'm in another time zone. The rest of the world seems to have a lot more time to get things done. This is probably due mostly to me thinking too much and doing too little ;-/

It is so weird. With my new 15 minute time block system, I have actually seen time slow down.

I have seen movies where someone found a magic thing to slow down time, who knew it could be done by drawing blocks on paper ;-)

Quote: To me every hour of the light and dark is a miracle, Every cubic inch of space is a miracle. - Walt Whitman

Narnia Update

I was just talking with a friend about when the next Chronicles of Narnia movie will be out, so I looked it up. It's May 16, 2008

They changed the order of the books and "Prince Caspian" will be the next movie. They had a reason and I don't really care, because eventually they will all be out and we can see them in whatever order we want to after that.

I just hope they don't wait so long between all the movies. I don't want to be retired before the last one comes out.

I may go see "One night with the King" It's the story of Esther while it's at the theater, but other than that I really don't know what's out right now that I would want to see.

The Election is About Over

Quote: "Elections are a good deal like marriages. There's no accounting for anyone's taste. Every time we see a bridegroom we wonder why she ever picked him, and it's the same with public officials." - Will Rogers"

I remember one time a friend told me that my sense of humor reminded them of Will Rogers, but I think if I had been the one who said "I never met a man I didn't like" it would have sounded more like Mae West.

Mud Slinging

It can be hard for a lot of people to see beyond the mud, even if it's undeserved, or if the one slinging it is even worse looking.

I don't really care for politics. The thing that amazes me is how two people can agree on a lot of stuff and feel so different about politics. And I'm talking STRONG feelings.
I am surprized at how strong my own feelings are about it.

I got an exercise machine

I would look like this if it were put together, but for now it's just a bunch of pieces in a box. I wont be home until about 10 tonight, so I"m not sure when I'm going to put it together. Maybe I can make a youtube video of a workout after I get it together.

My Aura

This weekend I went to the store and some guy in line with me was way too close to me. I tried to ignor it and just be sure that he wasn't a pick pocket or something like that. When I got to the checkout the Lady asked if we were together ;-)
It's only funny because it confirmed my feelings that he was way too close. So I'm thinking that people have this area around them that they sort of project out from them. I am about to go to the same store, but this time while I am there I am going to try to project my aura a little stronger ;-)

Baptism

Our Sunday School lesson today was on baptism. Some people get baptised by sprinkling, some as babies but at my church we baptise by submersion. We only dedicate babies, we don't baptise them.

I don't usually put other peoples paintings on my blog, but this was the one I thought of, when I thought about baptism. Baptism is a symbol that we have died to our old selves and our old lives and we raised from that death to a new life as a child of God. (I'm sure that someone else could explain it a lot better than me.)

Happy Birthday to Me

In keeping with my new Moggy Stewart attitude. The Girl and The Boy got me a SpotBot cleaner. It was all wrapped in "My little Pony" paper and there were two other packages one of which I guessed to be whiskey, but it turned out they were both cleaner to go with the SpotBot.

The whiskey is really an inside joke. Last year before Christmas I had a cough and someone at work told me to make a hot toddy with whiskey. I was not comfortable buying it, but I did. And I had been coughing for a long time, but didn't cough once in the liquor store. I still tried to explain to them that I was buying it for a cough, but they probably didn't believe me.

Moggy Stewart

I'm working on the house, but I also made little meatloafs shaped like hearts and cooked blackeyed peas. It was all really good and I am REALLY stuffed.

I did get somethings done, but I didn't really stay in my 15 minute boxes. I have about 5 - 15minute boxes left before I need to leave and I think I may have to rest some of that..

Plan for Today

I have made a little chart with time blocked into 15 minute squares. I'm going to try to accomplish as much as possible. I only have two more weekends to get the house ready for Thanksgiving and so I need to get moving.

So much to do and so little time. I'm going to the store first and get stuff for the crockpot so that while I am working I can smell something good cooking for me when I am tired and hungry ;-)

Shape Up

Quote: You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there. -author unknown

I think that "The Cat" and I will shape up for our New Years Resolution.

By the way this is actually a picture of "The Cat" that I took yesterday. He was sitting up leaning against something like he does sometimes and yawning.

Well I think I better get back to my "Time Management" and off the blog for now. ;-)

[This is a really bad picture of "The Cat" and The Girl pointed out to me that he doesn't take bad pictures of me and post them on the internet, so I feel bad about it and may take it down.]

Time Management

I am trying to work on my time management. I did get up a little early today and so I'm going to head into work early.

Two reasons for this. Yes I want to get some stuff done at work, but they officially closed the road that I normally take which is going to re-route traffic. I am going to have to go out of my way and get jammed up with a lot of other people trying to go to work.

Wrestling

Do you ever wrestle with a verse out of the bible?

This morning I really didn't want to get up and get going.

My alarm went off early because I didn't take it off of daylight savings time. How does that happen? you ask.

Well my alarm is my cell phone and it was set on vibrate and so I didn't notice, but now I have it set right.

I woke up to this lively music....one hour before I need to get up.

So I just stayed there thinking of all the things I could get done, if I would go ahead and get up.
