My Life is a Cartoon

Maybe my life is not a cartoon, but I do like to draw little cartoons about some of the things going on in my life.

My cousin

One of my cousins moved up closer to where I live.
She came to have lunch with me at work Friday. She brought me a little gift basket with hair dye and skin cream ;-) That was really sweet of her.

We had been talking about that kind of stuff a couple of weeks ago, so it's wasn't just out of the blue.

She is younger than me ,taller than me and has really thick hair (I have that baby fine hair that looks limp) .

I'm not complaining (really I'm not) I like my age, height and my soft hair, I'm just giving you a clearer picture ;-)

I am going to try to dye my hair today if I can find the time, she brought a color that she thought would look good on me. I will use that face cream and see how it goes. I will have to say that I do need to fix up a little more than I do. Hint taken ;-)

Tshirt design contest

I think they are going to announce the winner of the T-shirt design contest at work. It's just for our department, but it would be neat to have mine picked. I know I have a chance at it. I put in five designs mostly for fun. One was polka dots and one had a cartoon on the back. It makes me sort of excited to go to work tomorrow and see what happens.

Driving to the Retreat

I was really glad that my friend T.R. went with me. We had fun driving down, but didn't get there until about 9:30. I was singing a parody of the Gilligan's Island song - the part where they started out for a three hour tour ;-)

I was also saying that if they didn't want me to come to their Sunday school class they could have just told me, not tried to get me lost in the woods.

Did I mention that I had a cell phone number to call if I got lost, but the cell phones didn't work way out there.

I don't get to see T.R. often and she met a guy on the internet and will be moving away to where he lives soon. I get to meet him this Saturday, but I think that it doesn't really matter what I think of him at this point - she is smitten.

Don't forget the Linen

One thing I noticed on the list of things to take to the retreat was Linen. That's really not a word that I use. I think it could be confusing, but I didn't noticed anyone having a problem with it.

I wanted to sleep on the top bunk, but I fell off the ladder and was encouraged to sleep on the bottom. Don't worry I didn't get hurt.

I did not know this

When I went on the retreat my friend T.R. who went with me told me something I did not know. Something that amazed me.

I don't see how anyone can go through life and not feel every now and then a total wonder at God's creation.

Did you know that when the caterpillar makes a cocoon that before he becomes a butterfly... inside of that cocoon he turns to goo. Yes to goo. I thought he was sort of the body part of the butterfly and just grew wings somehow.

Not being one to just believe that sort of thing I looked it up and I am amazed. I have thought of the butterfly as a symbol of the resurrection of a person... and of the cocoon as like being in the grave, but this new information just blows me away.

There are huge weeds in my yard

I did mow a little, but there are some weeds in the corner of the front yard that I left. I am thinking about getting some plastic flowers and hot gluing them to the top of the weeds. Do you think the neighbors would think I had suddenly pulled up the weeds and planted flowers.

How can one help shivering with delight when one's hot fingers close around the stem of a live flower, cool from the shade and stiff with newborn vigor! ~Colette

Or maybe stiff, because it's plastic ;-)

I will tell about the retreat later when I get time, it was a lot of fun.

I'm working on a tee-shirt design

Were having a contest at work. If you win you get a starbucks coupon, but it's just fun.

I'm going on retreat this weekend and so will not be posting again until at least late Sunday.

Cat's In Sinks

As if I didn't spend enough time on the internet, The Girl showed me a site that just has pictures of cat's in sinks. I should take a picture of "The Cat" and send it in.

Warning if you go to this site it's pretty well endless and you may get stuck there, so if you can't resist don't even click on it. http://www.catsinsinks.com/

Still Working on it

Today at work, I made a chart of what I thought I would work on and when. I put gray in the blocks that I thought I would be in and then I'm going to mark what I am actually doing. This way I can see where my time is going. I think I will try the same thing for at home.

I find myself right now at a place where I'm taking a hard look at my past, so that my spirit will not walk in darkness. The darkness to me is when you are not willing to see the things you need to work on in your life.

OOPs gotta run again

I have an early morning meeting with my boss - it's appraisal time. You would think this come from the word praise and would be a good thing, but we'll see.

A New Start

I picked up some healthy things that I can put in my desk at work, so when I'm tempted by a twinkie or bag of M&M's It will be easier to say no.

I think we should eat to live and not just to make our taste buds happy or to mask our feelings and especially not just out of habit. I have fed my body a lot of stuff that I know was of no use to it at all.

Large Scale Intervention

Tomorrow is the first day of my new weight loss plan. So far it really only consists of the fact that I plan to lose weight ;-)

I always say that I am going to be skinny as a rat's tail, but I don't really want to be that skinny, just very comfortable with myself. By that I mean able to exercise and feel good. I just feel a little bigger than I would like to be right now.

Top of the morning to you

I hope your day is better than you thought it would be.

I'm going to actually try to accomplish something. First I need to run a few errands and so I'm going to have to wear a green shirt instead of my usual color ;-)

It's almost St. Patrick's Day

I'm getting ready, I think I probably do have some Irish blood. I also have always liked clover or shamrocks. When I was a kid I think that I did see a fourleaf clover a time or two. I do remember looking for them.
I also thought I saw some little people once when I was about 6 years old. I'm sure looking back that it was something I dreamed, but I still remember seeing them as if it really happened. ;-)

I'm enjoying the birds

I saw four birds in the very top of a tree, like they were having a meeting. I guess it could have been a singing. They are enjoying that the leaves are starting to come out on the trees. I am enjoying that too.

I was able to stop and watch them because no one was walking with me or behind me.

The Cat is Back

I think he really likes his hair cut, either that or he is just happy that I came back and got him after being at the groomers all day. Actually I think he has still kept a little weight off, I would guess that he is only a little over 27lbs now ;-)

I wish gettin my hair done would make that much difference for me.

"the cat" goes in for a bath and hair cut

Today I'm taking in "The Cat" on my way to work and picking him up when I get off work. His hair has grown back nearly as long as it was before. I think it may grow faster than mine. I don't have a clue how the groomer is able to cut his hair, much less give him a bath. I would be scratched up from head to toe.

I hope he doesn't mind too much, he does like how he feels after the hair is off and he is nice and clean. I try to tell him that he has too much work to do for one cat, trying to keep his long hair clean.

Monday

Don't forget to change the battery in your smoke detector. If that is something you do when you change your clocks for daylight savings time. It was nice today to have the extra sunshine.

My computer at work had the wrong time for a little while, but I think it was because I had it on the wrong time zone. When I changed the time zone everything seemed to be right.

I'm not sure what trouble it could or would cause if I had just left it that way, probably none.

Allergies

The trees are really pretty right now, but I think I'm going to have to start taking allergy pills.

Kids say the cutest things :-(

I'm going to darken my hair again, because I heard a little girl about three say something to her mother about me. She referred to me as "that old lady". I really do need to fix up a little more.

I can't stop listening to music

I found a site http://www.pandora.com/
Where they take a song you like and play songs for you that they think you will like. You can give a song a thumbs up, or down and they will try to give you more songs you like. So then I went to a lyrics site trying to find the name of some of the old old songs that I like and haven't heard for a while.

I'm having trouble gettin up

I need someone to bring me coffee so I can wake up. I don't usually drink coffee, but I'm thinking that I may have to start.

For some reason I just don't want to get up and get going, but I do want to keep a roof over my head, so I guess I'll go to work ;-)

The trees are starting to bloom

I went to a wedding last Saturday and I have another one to go to this Saturday and the trees are bloomed out like bridal flowers.

I would like to climb up in one, but here I am in the city and I don't see many folks around here climbing up the trees ;-)

They rerouted traffic again

I bought a house that was 3 1/2 miles from work, then they built a bigger road and removed my direct route to work. Well okay, not so bad, I now have to go the wrong direction for about a 1/2 mile and turn around then I'm on my way.

Yesterday they blocked off the turn around ;-(
and it wouldn't be so bad, but it was not just me a lot of other people go that way, so it gets jammed up.

Welcome March

This is my cartoon for the March News letter of my Sunday School class. I'm really enjoying doing these. After a year or so of cartooning almost on a daily basis I think I'm getting better. You can dis-agree, but be kind ;-)

Movie Review

The movie "Amazing Grace" was really inspiring. I wanted to see it because I had read "Devil on the Deck" about John Newton's life and him writing the song. His life was not the focus of this movie, but it played a part in it. It was more about William Wilberforce and his work to end slavery in England.

It wont be at a lot of theaters and it probably will not be there long, so you should see it if you get the chance.

I think I get my truck back today

I can't wait, it's hard to make plans when you don't know what day they are going to call and you have to run swap cars. I have to clean my car a little before I leave for work this morning, so I will be ready.

I've had the rent car for over a week now

The paper I got from the rental place says the car goes back by tomorrow and I haven't heard a word about my truck being ready. I guess I will try to call a few people from work tomorrow.

I just hope I'm not left without a vehicle. I better take my hiking boots just in case.
