My Life is a Cartoon

Maybe my life is not a cartoon, but I do like to draw little cartoons about some of the things going on in my life.

Sunday Lesson

I was reading the daily bible reading from online. It seems to me that a lot of people don't think that God requires us to live our life any different than the rest of the world, but that's not what I see when I read the Bible.

I think when you are in God's family, you want him to be proud of you.

Quote: “No amount of good deeds can make us good persons. We must be good before we can do good.” - Chester A. Pennington

Also I've been cutting back on The Cat's food a little more and he is now 28 lbs even. So hopefully he will keep losing a little at a time. I'd like to see him at least around 20.

When Pigs have Wings

I have this large plastic piggy bank and I needed money yesterday for girls night out. I cut the hole larger and then folded it out. It ended up looking like wings and I was able to get out money so that I could go.

I thought we were going to a theater. The movie we saw was Spanglish and it was pretty good. I expected it to funnier because of Adam Sandler being in it. It was really good, but not as much of a comedy that I thought it would be.

Night out with the Girls

I got invited by a group of girl friends to go see a movie tonight. I'm not sure how much I like chick-flicks, but I'll just wait and see what they pick out.

I really should stay home and do housework, but I think I will probably go and try to catch up on things at home later.

Also I have been finding some great low calorie recipes, I will try to make something this weekend and post the results.

Fun Fair Today

I know that some of you (one in particular) don't think I work enough as it is, but were having a fun fair at work today. We get to wear jeans. It's for a good cause, but there will be a cake walk and it seems to me that last year one of my friends won a cake and shared it. I'm doing pretty good with my diet, so lets hope I can stay away from the cake walk this year.

Artist Warner Sallman

I was reading Psalm 68:19 "Praise the Lord; praise God our savior! For each day he carries us in his arms."

It made me think of this painting of Jesus holding a lamb. Warner Sallman was a volunteer art director of his denominational magazine. He was supposed to provide the artwork for the front cover, and not having any luck. The night before the deadline he was tired and frustrated and praying that he would come up with something in the morning.

He woke up between two and three in the morning with a vision of the Lord in his mind that he was able to sketch out and then returned to sleep. The next morning he completed a charcoal drawing "The Head of Christ" and from there he went on to create other paintings, like the one I looked up.

Weight Loss News

I haven't posted anything lately about how The Cat is doing with his weight loss. It's been sort of up and down and not much down. This morning he was 28.6. At least it's not 30 still. I'm going to try to find something to give him more exercise. Even the pets today do not get the exercise they once did.

If my calculations are right, it's only 99 days till New Years and me posting my actual weight on my blog. However with my new diet plan, where I can have any thing I want to eat, but I end up spilling it instead of eating it, I think I will be really skinny by then ;-)

Eggs for Breakfast

This morning my eggs ended up on my feet. I bought one of those microwave egg cookers with the intent to take it to work along with the eggs.

Maybe I didn't really think this through well enough. And then I was going to cut an egg carton in half and take a few eggs to work in that and put it in the fridge at work.

The plan went well until I was cutting the egg carton in half. I didn't support one side of the carton and the two eggs on that side came out and hit my foot and the floor. So now I think I will try another plan. I just want to come up with a simple eating plan to follow so that I can lose and maintain my weight.

Sunday Bible Study

I haven't been doing my daily bible cartoons, so here is one for today.

I think the main problem is that when we feel depressed, sad, or lonely we look for something to ease the pain. Sometimes the pain we feel is because we need God and we look for anything else that we can find because we are rebellious. It could be drugs, food, money or anything that in the end will leave us in worst shape than where you started.

Mystery Moggy

I have a list of things that I need to get done today, so I guess I better get to it ;-( The good thing is that I want to work on a painting, but the bad thing is housework and yard work.

I also want to go and visit my parents and friends, so I will have to see what I can work into the day.

I have a date

I stayed up too late, hope that I can make it to the gym tomorrow. I know that this video is way too slow, but I'm just learning ;-) Just hit play and then move the little bar back and fourth fairly fast.

I'm doing pretty good with my diet except some evil person brought me a cookie today

I'm a little nervous and I've been on youtube listening to Brad Paisly I love his songs and "Online" is a really good one.

I'm not sure it makes you feel good about meeting someone that you have been talking to online, but it is funny,

No use crying over spilled soup

I got up early, made it to the Gym and still got to work by 7. I also left early and worked in the yard for a while.

When my friend offered me soup. She didn't know I would throw half of mine across her cubicle and onto her wall. I tried to clean it all up before she saw it.

I did think it would have been funny to just run away before she got back ;-)

I wonder if something happened?

My ladies group usually meets in a room near the door at Church, but they said they didn't want the women near the door and we moved to a room further in.

When we left someone watched as we went to our cars. We did leave later and so it was dark.

Another All Day Class

This one is about your communication style. My co-worker and I are going. We had to fill out a form and it was amazing what they could tell about you from the answers.

I just want to be everyone's friend. I really should be working with people instead of computers, but I like computers too. Can't I be friends with the computer as well as the people ;-)

Back to the Gym

I plan
to get
up early
tomorrow
and go
to the
Gym
before work.

The Gym opens at 5:00

If I fall off the treadmill and make everyone laugh, I will actually be helping them to be healthier. I have fallen off once because I was trying to step in a pattern so it wouldn't be boring and I went too far to one side. ;-)

I wish I was camping

My friend just sent me this picture he took this weekend and it makes me miss being out in nature.

I was out in nature a litte, because I mowed the front yard, I'll try to get the back tomorrow.

He also sent me a picture of a print that he saw and wasn't sure what it was.

Now that doesn't make me wish I was camping quite as much.

I'm suspecting that it may have been big foot because of the shiner beer bottle ;-)

What is a Ning?

I was invited to join a Christian Ning group, but first I had to have a Ning ID. I didn't even know there was such a thing as Ning.

Today I found a place on-line that has some books you can listen to. I've been listening to "The Golden Key" by George MacDonald. It's a pretty long story, so be warned if you want to listen you need to set aside some time. I also found "White Fang" on line, but I haven't listened to that.

Friday

I'm glad it's Friday, but I do have a lot that I want to accomplish this weekend. Not sure where to start, but I will start somewhere.

And now I need to get off the computer and exercise. That scale is not going down on it's own.

Even better Diet Incentive

Someone told me today that I should post my weight on my blog if I don't reach my goal. But hey if I do reach my goal I probably wouldn't mind posting my weight.

So I think that I will post a picture of what the scale has to say when I reach the goal date for my weight loss.

What is that day you ask?

Lets say I want to be a lessor person by January 1st. That will get me past all the holiday feasts knowing that the post day is coming. I may not be at my computer exactly 1/1/08, but I will post as close to that as I can. With an honest number, good or bad.

111 days till I have to reveal my weight. I hope it's close to 111 ;-)

My weight loss plan

I ate a reasonable breakfast before I went to work, but then I was in a training class all day. Someone brought in sweet rolls and piggies and there was coffee and juice there for us. Then I took the trainer to the cafeteria so he could get lunch and I got lunch for myself (too much)...then they brought in cokes and cookies for us in the afternoon.

Did I mention that when I got home there were cupcakes, the ones with the sugar icing and so I had to eat a couple of them.

After today, instead of donating to a political campaign, I may have to run for office.

Is anybody going to San Jose?

Oh wait I think it's "Is anybody going to San Antone or Phoenix Arizona" but San Jose is where my job is sending me to a conference in a couple of months.

My boss wanted to send me to New York City, but I found a similar conference in California, so she let me switch . I'm still a little nervous.

If life was a game

If I thought of life as a game, maybe it would be easier for me to get things done ;-) I'm going to try to think of game titles for the things I have to do. And maybe even a few rules.

For mowing I was thinking about the tricky parts of the game being things like - get past the ant mound without being stung.

I've got to get back in the race

Saturday I didn't accomplish, plan, diet, rest, or anything worthwhile.

It was like I was sitting in front of a hurtle that I didn't want to jump. There are tons of things that I want to do ...

but somewhere in front of them are these hurtles. Those things that I don't want to do, but need to do in order to reach the goal.

I need to start an exercise program

Belly dancing would be nice, but I think any kind of exercise would be good. I feel really lazy today, but I'm going to have to push myself to get going. As usual I need to mow the back yard. I also need to go and visit my Mom because it's her birthday.

I'm still trying to watch the food, yesterday someone talked me into a piece of chocolate. I'm afraid it wasn't too hard for them to do.

I found the perfect Diet Incentive ;-)

I now have a weight loss goal and a deadline. I'm setting aside a little money and if I lose the weight, I will buy a new outfit, but if I don't I'm going to contribute the money to a campaign fund.

A friend at work came up with the idea of giving the money to a political campaign if I don't reach my weight loss goal. She suggested I pick out my least favorite one. I was so excited about that, because it's about the worst thing I can think of to do ;-)

It's only been one day and I've lost 2 lbs.

Did I get my license sticker yet?

Okay first I couldn't find my Insurance card and then after the weekend was over I was able to have the Insurance people fax me a copy.

I went to the desk where the fax machine is a couple of times and no card. I finally looked in the other secretary's office and it was printed on the fax there.

Then I got all my papers together and drove across town to the place to get the sticker. But NOOOOO the computer was broken. Tomorrow I will call them and if the computer is back up I will get my sticker.

Meanwhile I just hope I don't get stopped by the police ;-(

Abstract Painting

One of my friends at works wants me to do a painting for her. She showed me a couple of abstract paintings and asked me if I could do one like that.
I said "yes I could, but why would I want to?". Then I told her that I could just wipe my brush off on a canvas while I'm painting and give that to her.

Actually the more I think about I'm okay with it. I can see why she liked the painting she showed me. To me it's more of a design than a painting. just a canvas with a few blocks of color on it.

Another All Day Meeting

I had planned to start a new diet today, but we had an all day meeting and they fed us. I was also not going to eat a cookie, but someone decided to half one with me and that's just like giving an alcoholic a drink. After that I had to have another half and then an entire cookie.

Tomorrow I'm going to start my diet and try to only look at my blog once a day. If I'm not able to cut down on my blogging, I may have to go to bloggers anonymous.

Stepping back in time

Today I went to a place in the country to see them making sorghum syrup from sugar cane the old fashion way. They had a system set up where the horse turns a wheel and guys were feeding the sugar cane into the center of it. I didn't actually walk down to where the syrup was coming out, but I will next time.

Insurance, Phone and Web Site Flustrations

Saturday morning I can't find my car insurance card.

CONDENSED VERSION

I went through lots of junk mail. Then tried to call

"sorry but you don't need to dial a 1"

When I do get the number right

Press 1 for, Press 2 for etc.

"sorry, but we are very busy please hold, waiting time is approximately 5 minutes"

Tried a different number that I thought was local and....

"sorry, but you must dial a 1"

Press 1 for, Press 2 for etc.

"sorry, but we are very busy please hold, waiting time is approximately 5 minutes"

Then I tried the website

" sorry, but your account number is not correct"

Another call to tech support and it sounds like they outsourced their call center to a non-English speaking country. I finally have the correct account number and went back into the web site.

Quote: "The system is currently unavailable. Please try again later."

After all that I drove for an hour to help a friend who was moving from a third floor apartment and went up and down the stairs with boxes for about 3 hours and then came home. Mowed the front yard. [and here is some good news] remember the neighbor that I thought didn't like me. His son came over and helped me with the yard and he said his Dad doesn't speak English and just looks mad all the time, but really isn't mad.

The yard looked so good I went out and got some flowers and put them in the flower bed.

I hate junk mail ;-(

You know how your always getting junk mail and don't want to bother opening it.

I happened to open one from a company
I didn't recognize and it was from my new Mortgage Company.

Apparently my old company sold me to them on July 31st.

I'm amazed that I found out. I can't believe I didn't just shred the letter. I looked at their web site and they look legitimate, but geeze Louise. I think a phone call would have been nice.

Did I mention that I hate junk mail?
