A knock at the back door

It was a large bird that hit the window and then flew to the feeder. I had bought bird seed, but not filled up the feeder, so I took it as a reminder. They really eat a lot of seed, with a little help from the squirrel.

Watering the yard

I was watering the front yard when The Rabbit came by to visit. He stayed the entire time I was out there and kept me company. I didn't turn the big sprinkler on because that would have ran him away.

We got the paving stones in place

Now I have room to put another car in my driveway and get them both out. It was a LOT of work and I feel bad because my friend had to do most of it.

It was so hot that I sort of faded as the day went on. I would think that all that work would have me weighing less when the scale sees me again, but we went to eat at an "all you can eat" buffet - twice.

I hope I can keep add to the drive a little at a time, now that I know how to did.

Now it's off to I-Hop and then to church.

I learned how to dig yesterday

My friend came up and he showed me how to jump on the end of the shovel so that you could get it to go down into the ground. Were putting paving stones next to my driveway, so I can get two cars side by side. My driveway is really narrow.

We went to Home Depot to get the paving stones and were going to get 100, but they are so heavy that his truck can't hold that many.

The clerk had already put in the 100 when we found out and when she went to change it to 50 she just added the 50 and so charged me for 100 extra.

I didn't even notice, but my friend looked at it and so I went back in the store to get credit for the 100 extra. The lady at the refund department misunderstood the one from the garden area and gave me back money for only 50 and I didn't notice and got back to the truck and my friend looked at my new ticket and noticed that. So back into the store (meanwhile they locked the garden area gate so we had to walk around to the front door)

The lady at the refund counter kept saying that she didn't have the money to refund to me, but not explaining what she would do. I was asking for store credit or a manager or whatever. She did get more money eventually and then counted it over and over - stuck it in the register and paid me. We lost a couple of hours that we could have worked.

So this morning it's off to I-Hop and then back to shovel-Hop ;-) - then off to my other friends wedding ;-)

Company gets here today

I got up before 5:30 today and managed to only spill some tea. Not bad huh ;-) Now I've got to scramble and do some last minute things I left to do this morning, water the yard, shower and possible get to work early (yeah right ;-)

It was the monthly birthday party at work

I wasn't going to do it, but I ended up eating cake and drinking punch. I'm not proud of myself, but I will keep on and one of these days I'm going to be the weight that I have set for a goal.

The cake tasted good, but it was only a few minutes and then I was left with no good taste and just the regret ;-( I'm going to try to remember that next time.

This movie is not very good

I went to see You, Me and Dupree with some co-workers. It was rated PG-13, but it was bad enough sitting there with adults watching it. I would not want to have been there with a 13 year old.
I wonder who rates this stuff. You can go and see it if you like, but I think you might enjoy something else a lot better.

I"m up too early ;-(

I spilled my cornflakes twice this morning. Once without milk and then again after I put milk in. I'm not talking about one or two flakes. I'm talking the entire bowl on the floor without milk (scatter everywhere) and then again with milk (plop and run everywhere).

Housework

Well it's almost midnight and I"m tired and not yet ready for company, but I do feel good about what I have done so far. I wont have a chance to do anything tomorrow and then I will only have two days to get ready.

I wouldn't do this for just anyone, so don't everyone plan on visiting me any time soon ;-)

Taking out the trash

I was putting out the trash this morning, and The Boy and The Girl went to take his car to have it worked on.

I smiled and waved goodbye then went back to the front door and it was locked. Lucky for me they forgot to lock the back door and I had left it unlocked because I was watering the back yard. Now I can get ready and head for work ;-)

It's Saturday

And that means I don't have to go to work, but not that I don't have to work. I still have to clean house. I'm going to try to do most of it today so that during the week, I can just do the things I've missed. Tomorrow half the day is gone because of the Wedding Shower.

I am going to have to do something soon

my cartoon image is going to start to look old. Probably tomorrow I will put things back the way they should be. Don't want people starting to try to guess how old I really am ;-)

Actually being old is not so bad as long as you don't feel old and most of the time I don't.

Completely on another subject - there has been a stray cat in our back yard some lately. I like cats, but I had gotten used to seeing the little rabbits relaxing in my yard and don't want to have their place disturbed by and intruder. I haven't figured out any way to discourage him from invading my yard yet.

I'm about to go out and water my yard

This is what happend to me yesterday when I went to turn off the water.

Today I am going to wear shoes at least. I was not good today at work. I got stressed out and then I couldn't help myself. I went for......yes you guessed it the M&Ms.

My Internet conection has been down

For almost two entire days - I'm about to go crazy. If you came to my blog and it was not updated, sorry. I do try to update it just about everyday. I will be going to a writers workshop for about 4 days the first week of August - so you might prepare yourself not to get updates that week. They might have internet access, but I'm not sure ;-)

I was very good today

I have had no sugar at all. I had soup with Melba toast for lunch. Her toast are really dry and hard, but it doesn't have a lot of calories. I would say that I don't know who Melba is, but I googled her.

She was an opera singer and quite a Diva as I understand it. I'm not sure that she was really as skinny as I would like to be, but I think opera singers can have a few extra pounds on them.

As for me I have to get off the Internet and start cleaning house. I have company coming weekend after next and staying at my house. I also need to water the yard because it's been so dry lately.

Guess I will need another outfit for that ;-)

Just so you know I'm not really wearing this to clean house and my ankles are not that big ;-)

I'm still trying

We had a lunch at work where they provided the food, so I didn't stick to my plan very well. After the food they passed around cookies and I didn't get one, but then later they passed around chocolate - how evil is that - I could not resist. I need to get a lot better at that

I'm being good for supper

I have that cambell's soup at hand (which is about 70 calories) and a nectarine 67 calories. So depending on what else I have tonight that's only 137 calories. Does that make up for the M&M's I had today at work ;-) I don't know, but maybe it will help.

At least some of them were green - like the good kind of vegetables.

Well you can add a small potato to that list and maybe I will stop at that ;-)

I did get some stuff done today

I put up a shelf over the kitchen window, because I don't have enough room for all the stuff I have. I still have a LOT to do, before company comes. I have one more weekend though, so I should be good.

I'm moving furniture around

For some reason I'm still trying to figure out where to put things in my house. I keep putting things in new places, but it just doesn't seem quite right. I guess I may have to give up and buy new furniture one of these days.

I really think I would like a room that was totally empty, with maybe a pillow to sit on. That would be so easy to clean. That is not going to happen, so it's back to moving stuff around. ;-)

I was not too good today. I was running a little late this morning so I had a glass of milk and then ran to a meeting at work. The meeting wasn't over until it was really too late to get breakfast and I got something like a rice crispy bar for breakfast. Then I went out to lunch with a friend. The only really bad thing I did was the cart for charity. It had chocolate and I just had a little.

I will be good this weekend.

I'm still working on my weight ;-)

I did pretty good today, but there is a snack cart for a fund raiser at work that came by me a couple of times and that caused me to slip up. It was for a good cause ;-)

The Scales are back

Well I'm still watching my weight, but I have some pants that I don't seem to be able to get into. Do you think they may have gotten smaller when I washed them? Even if that is the case I still have a few (ha ha) pounds to lose.

My okra was stringy

I cooked and ate some of the okra from my garden, but apparently I left it on the plant too long because it was hard and stringy ;-(

I think because I have some kind of small okra plant you can't let the pods get very big. Next time I will know better.

More about Okra - what else

Okra seed meal has 15% or more protein;

okra seed oil contains 70% unsaturated fatty acid;

Ground, roasted okra seeds can be brewed to make a coffee like beverage.

boiled okra leaves provide vitamins A and C, plus calcium and iron. I'm not big on boiled green leaves, but I think I will try it.

Juice from okra pods is an Ayurvedic remedy for balancing blood sugar. Now don't ask me what a Ayurvedic is, but I'm sure they know more than I do about okra pod juice. I don't know that I will be trying this any time soon. The only juicer I have just does oranges and lemons. I don't think I could get juice out of an okra pod very easy.

It also has pretty flowers and they are yellow. I seem to like yellow flowers. Each bloom only lasts about one day before it starts to turn into an okra pods.

I had a nice surprize.

The first okra pod that I picked was just not enough to cook, so I didn't. I had it sitting on the counter to admire/

I picked it up today and it was dry and when I shook it, it rattled. It came apart like a flower and inside were more okra seeds. I'm going to plant them too and see if they grow. If so, I think I will always have Okra plants around.

They seem to be the easiest thing to grow so far.

Pirates of the Carribean

The Girl and I went to see this late yesterday, so late that it was after 1:00 in the morning when we got home. The theater was really crowded and we had forgotten the last time we said "were never going to a moving late on a friday or saturday night" because of how many people go then.

The movie was good and I was still able to get up and make it to Church this morning. Somthing I didn't do last week and wish I had. The guy who spoke was so good and it was the second part, so I missed the first part last week ;-(

There is something about pirate outfits and sword fights that is really cool to watch. Some of the weird creatures - not so good. I had to look away at a good bit of the movie. I always wonder what I missed, but I don't seem to be able to stop myself from looking away.

Also I just finished mowing the front yard - ahhhhh - I'm tired because it's really hot out there.

I had something from the garden today

I had a baby cantelope that had a bad spot on one side and so I cut it off. I didn't intend to eat it, but I was curious what it looked like inside. When I cut it open it was green, except for the part where the seeds are and they were small, but that area was yellow/orange just like a big cantelope.

It smelled just like a cucumber and so I cut out the seeds and tasted the other part and it did taste like a cucumber.

I also got about 8 okra pods from my garden. I'm going to cook them up today.

Last nights dreams

I dreamed a good bit that I can remember. I may come back and work on this post later.


One of the strange things was about a cat that had learned how to light a match. The funny thing is that he ran a tub of water and then tried using the match to light the faucet like it was a heater. He had the idea, but didn't understand everything and I guess he wanted a warm bath. I also dreamed that I had something like a stroke and couldn't get the letters right when I was trying to write something. And I dreamed my X was around - he was just being annoying.

Another dream had to do with shrimp, some kid had a bag of tiny shrimp and was just eating them raw. Then I went to look and see if I could see any shrimp in this water that was nearby and I'm not sure I did see shrimp, but there was some interesting things.

Okay one more dream, Don't remember all of this, but there was some kind of health and body building stuff. A few people demonstrating and a wrester type woman called something like "the mountain woman" who had a devise that fired out flowers. I had climbed way up on a cage thing and didn't want to come down when she was going to come out, but I did after I saw that she wasn't that scary.

I got a second opinion today

I went to a differnt scale to see if something was wrong with the other one. Go figure both the scales seem to be wrong ;-) I haven't gained back all of the weight I lost last week, but some and I haven't gone down any more.

If it weren't for M&Ms and Ice Cream - not together, but hey that doesn't sound bad. Oh wait I lost my train of thought. Yes if I can just stay away from those two I think I can get down to the weight I want to be at.

A big project is due today

I will be so glad to turn this in and start on other stuff. We have been working on it for what seems like months. I want to look it all over, but probably will not have the time I would like to have. Anyway after today for better or for worse it will turned in and in the bosses hands.

I may get to paint a murel

My friend suggested me to someone opening a new business who wants a murel on one of the walls. It would be good to be painting again. I have been sort ot out of the notion of painting lately. I guess just too much going on at work and at home. I think it would be really good for me.

They also want a logo and I think it would be neat to actually create one.

There is thunder outside today

It's dark outside too and so it doesn't seem like the middle of the day. The cat is snoring inside his little crate. It makes me want to go back to bed and just sleep the day away. I started to draw a picture, but I'm just not ready to draw right now.

I was really off my diet yesterday

I visited with family and ate more than I should have. I didn't feel good about it, but the scale wasn't there to keep an eye on me ;-) They had pies, cakes and way too much stuff that I liked. The really bad thing is that I ate something before I went, because I didn't intend to eat there.

Worst Movie

I can't believe I stayed up and watched this movie. The main character was not good looking or inspirational to me and yes there was an army of men in kilts (sort of).

It was those Roman skirts which are not near as good looking as the medieval kind of kilt to me. They sort of have a fancy look that I don't like. And as much as I like feathers - come on ... The red fluff out of the top of the hat is over doing it a little. On a girl it might be cute, but not on a man - especially in a battle.

The good guys didn't even win in the end.

Near the end, it was just an entire field of men with sticks sticking up out of them - blaaa It was sad too with no redeeming qualities that I saw, but then maybe that's just because I'm tired.
