My Life is a Cartoon

Maybe my life is not a cartoon, but I do like to draw little cartoons about some of the things going on in my life.

Blood Pressure

We had someone at work giving blood pressure tests and I can tell you it didn't look good. I've been trying to lower mine by getting my weight down, but I'm not sure that alone is going to do it.

I really would like to not have to take something everyday for that, but I have the family history (MOM) of it. Funny how I like to blame all the bad things on my mom ;-)

There is no such thing as dark brown

I decided to dye my hair dark brown after artgirl asked me what color my hair was. I should remember from past experience that there is no such thing. I wonder if the hair dye company puts black into the dark brown box to save making another color.

Everyone said I looked okay, but what are they going to say really? Well I know that Janet would have told me, but some people just say you look fine no matter what. To me it looked harsh, but no small children ran screeming away from me, so maybe it was not as bad as I thought.

Gone to out of town weddng

Once again I will be away from a computer. I'm going down south where a friend is getting married Saturday. She had her electricity out due to the hurricane last time I talked to her, but hopefully it's back on now. She was having to stay at someone's house who had electricity, but had a tree fall into the roof on the second floor.

I'll let you know what the area looks like when I get back.

Moving Again

They are moving our group to another area at work. This will be the fourth cubical I have been in while I've been doing this blog ;-) I tried to remember all the times I have moved while I have been working at the same place. I thought of 13 and so this new place will be my 14th cube or office since I've been there.

I stayed late today packing up every last piece of paper and paper clip.

It's an opportunity to toss out old papers. I don't know if that's the reason they do it, but I really need to move every now and then. I tend to be a pack rat.

And now for a quote that has nothing to do with the subject ;-)

I left my purse in a meeting room today

We had a meeting on another floor and at the other end of the building, which is like a block away. I grabbed my purse, because I wanted a drink and when I was at the meeting I forgot all about having a purse.

Then at lunch I looked for my purse and thank goodness I remembered that I took it to the meeting. My cell phone was in my purse turned all the way up, so I hope no one called while other people were meeting there. I called security and no one had turned in a purse, so I went back to the room and there it was.

I had a great weekend

Friday after work I picked up artgirl and her little sister "we'll just call her mini artgirl" she is 3.

Saturday I took them to the lake and while they were playing in the sand, four deer came running down the beach.

I was enjoying seeing them and didn't even think that they could run over us, but artgirl ran to protect her little sister who was actually closer to where the deer were running.

She is such a good big sister.

Mini artgirl has not been around me much and not long after I picked her up, she said "you sound like grandma" It's true I do sound like my Mom ;-( she calls me Tia, but about half the time she slipped and called me grandma. Then one time artgirl said to me you look a little like Uncle ____ ;-(. Well it's just that their Dad looks like my Dad, but Uncle ____ and I look like my Mom. I got them home safe and sound and their Mom said that mini artgirl said "I love Tia" after I went out the door. That makes up for being called grandma and told I look like my brother ;-)

Tie back top

One of my friends gave me a nice top that ties in the back. I couldn't figure out why she didn't want it. She said it didn't look good on her. I don't really like bows so I just tied it and I thought it looked really good on me.

I did run into one little problem, but I'm not going to even talk about that, because it really is a nice shirt and it was nice of her to give it to me.

The down side of weight loss

I may have to start ironing my clothes, now that I am not stretching them out so that they are smooth ;-)

Then again the wrinkles in what I wear might distract from the wrinkles on my face and people will think I am younger than I am.

Moggy Beauty Advice

Never eat chili at the last minute before you head out the door to go somewhere without rechecking your makeup ;-)

I was about to leave when "the boy" happened to spot me with his eagle eyes and told me I had something on my face. Thanks goodness for those eagle eyes.

Denial

We had a lady come and speak from the women's shelter today about domestic abuse. It was really hard for me to hear in a way because I've been there, but I don't want to push things into the back of my mind and not deal with them.

I want to bring everything out and let God heal any thing that is still lingering.

Quote: The worst lies are the lies we tell ourselves. We live in denial of what we do, even what we think. We do this because we're afraid. We fear we will not find love, and when we find it we fear we'll lose it. We fear that if we do not have love we will be unhappy. - Richard Bach

Bad Dream

I think that God has shown me some things in this dream that I need to work on. Nothing new really, but just things that I was stuck about and didn't really want to do anything about. Not that I wanted to stay stuck. ;-(

I wont post the entire dream, because it was way too long.

I dreamed that I was taking my niece to a movie. When I was there at the ticket window I put three fives in the window and the clerk took two of them and said it wasn't enough.

I pushed the other five to her. Then she said she hadn't gotten anything. I tried to explain and meanwhile my niece had wandered off. There was a long line behind me and so I just paid for the tickets one more time.

I spent the rest of the dream trying to find my niece even yelling out her name in the theater and around the theater, which was like a carnival with a lot of things to interest a kid. - just so you know I have never lost my niece.

less of me

I'm still counting calories and it's going really well. I'm actually eating better than normal. My daily food goes something like this.

1st thing in the morning yogurt
then one french toast made with a little real butter, one egg and 1 slice of 35 or 45 calorie bread.
Mid morning snack - granola bar or piece of fruit
lunch usually soup and somthing with it like cornbread.
Mid evening snack - fruit or granola bar or yogurt
Supper - I try to eat some type of low calorie vegetable (I really like green beans) with a piece of chicken or beef or pork.
Before I go to bed I have yogurt again.

I was trying to eat aroung 200 calories every three hours., so six times a day. I have not been able to do that, but I have kept the snacks at 200 or less most of the time and then added to the meals so that I never go under 1200 calories. I'm trying to eat between 1200 and 1500 calories a day till I reach my goal. This might not be healthy for some people, but I'm pretty short.

Here are some low calorie things I have found that I like. Wolf Brand Turkey Chili - 1 cup 160 calories and it actually tastes good, there are a lot of low calorie soups, del monte peaches with splenda. I feel like I'm eating a lot, but I'm not eating a lot of calories.

I made cornbread today, which is not so low calorie, but I only ate a little of it with my soup.

I bought some size 6 pants and I really didn't think they would fit just yet, but they do. ;-)

Rough Weather for Texas

I'm lucky that I don't live down by the coast.

I do have cousins that live down that way. I think we will get some strong winds here.

When you see it from above it's a really big storm and I just hope that it doesn't cause too much distruction.

Juggling the weight away

I think I have found my new exercise plan and it's juggling two sets of keys and a cell phone. Yesterday I made sure that I had both sets of keys before I left my desk. I didn't get all the way to the car, but I did get from the third floor down to the door to go outside when I thought.

"I just plugged in my cell phone to charge it up, humm I wonder if I put it back in my purse" The answere.... Of course you didn't you silly thing. It's three flights of stairs up and back at your desk. ;-)

Taking the stairs

I worked about an hour late and then went down to my truck. I had the truck keys in my hand, but... Oh wait.... I forgot that I drove the car instead of my truck and oops those keys were still on my desk.

I work on the third floor and then park one level down in the parking garage, so it's a little exercise both ways.

Not Again

I left my cell phone at work. At least I hope that's where it is. There was supposed to be a storm coming through and I was already there too late, so I just headed out the door.

It's really strange not to have it. I have got to get my act together ;-/

Polk Salad Berries

I was reading about fermenting vegetables and then about canning and one thing let to another.
I remembered my Grandmother had talked of making Polk Salad.

I wanted to see what the plant looked like. It's the same as inkberry, which I have seen growing around. And then I read this.

The United States Declaration of Independence was written in fermented pokeberry juice (hence the common name 'inkberry').

humm... is there no end what you can do with fermented fruits and vegetables ;-)

Sauerkraut

I have never eaten sauerkraut before because I was very picky and didn't even like cabbage as a child. I have not been a child for a long time, but I still have some ideas in my head that got there way back then.

We had a parade and carnival at work to benefit United Way. I'm still watching calories, so a friend and I split a hotdog with sauerkraut on it. It really was pretty good. I don't think I would want to eat sauerkraut all alone, but with some other food to give it flavor it's really not bad.

The other thing of interest is that I had just learned that they used to ferment food to preserve it. This was something that I had never heard about and I'm going to try to make some sauerkraut, which is fermented cabbage.

I went to Happy Hour after Work

I had something that I hadn't tried before. Drunken Goat cheese. It is actually pretty good. I also had calamari and it's the second time I have tried that. The first time I didn't know what it was or I would never have tasted of it. It's actually pretty good too.

No calorie counts were listed for anything. I think I know why they do that.... so I will keep eating.

Still Putting on makeup

I thought I saw a video on how to put bronzer on the side of your face sort of like the letter three. So this morning I tried this lightly with blush because I don't have any bronzer. I wonder if I just dreamed it because I can't find any video that tells you to do this now.

The light wasn't very good and what I thought was light wasn't so light. When I got to work I happened to look in a mirror and it looked like someone had hit me in the jaw and given me a big bruise. I think I got most of it off before many people saw me.

Labor Day

I got some mowing done and it's a good thing because it looks like rain is coming and it may be raining for a while.

I lost count of my calories. I went to ihop with a couple of friends for breakfast. I had eggs, bacon, sausage and a blueberry crepe. I have no idea even what was inside the crepe, but I suspect creme cheese. Ihop doesn't post calories that I can find.
