My Life is a Cartoon

Maybe my life is not a cartoon, but I do like to draw little cartoons about some of the things going on in my life.

OOPs I may be in trouble

I've been working on this giant spreadsheet and I turned in what I thought was the signed off copy yesterday to the contractors. My boss looked at it and saw something that we had not talked about, so he sent me a note to stop by his office this morning. I think it was a decision that I made without asking and it may have been the wrong one.

Can you spot the lawn mower ;-)

I"m trying to mow the backyard and still leave the sunflowers, but trying to mow around them is not easy. That and it's rained so much...and yes I did get a little behind in my mowing.

I'm about 1/4 done with the backyard and I've got to get back out there, because I have a lot of other things that need to be done and I'm trying to become a more responsible human being. It's not fun, but it's something different for me ;-)

Sundays Sermon

The preacher was talking about Jesus taking all our sins onto him and giving us a new mind. It made me think of the old science fictions films where they had something like metal bowls upside down on two peoples head to transfer their brain power.

I knew Jesus died for my sins and for everyones sins, but I think I can see one thing a little clearer. He did die for everyone, but not everyone will accept him. For the ones that do there is the second part of the transfer, a renewed heart and mind.

[I don't feel like I really have this cartoon and words worked out the way I want and I haven't found a good quote for this yet]

Saturday Bowling

We had about 27 our of our group that went bowling Saturday night. It was fun, but... as you can see I'm not the best bowler.

Then about 20 of us went out to eat and want to guess who got their food last. I guess it makes sense for the better bowlers to get fed first. They probably expended more energy bowling.

Dancing Inspiration

This is a link that Billy sent me to a guy who can really dance the salsa you should watch it, It's Amazing.

Another Painting

I'm waiting for the lady I did the photo shoot of to come back into town and so I have another picture that I'm going to try to get started on tomorrow.

I'm really sore from my attempt at dancing. I think I must have been moving the old hips a little too much ;-)

It was a lot of fun ;-)

I now think maybe I could learn to dance. I didn't even fall over or anything.

The teacher told us nice things like "your doing good" and "I"m proud of you". I don't know if it was true.

It would be nice to have a certain someone to dance with all the time, but the instructor makes you change partners.

Learning to dance

I'm going to go to a Salsa dance lesson tomorrow. I'm not real hopeful that I will be good at it, but I will at least try to have fun.

If you don't see any more blog posts, you will know that I have somehow injured myself trying to do something like this at my age ;-)

Working Late

I worked late and brought work home with me. Now I'm going to try to go in early. I have a meeting at 9:00 and I'm supposed to be finished with a spreadsheet with about 5,000 unique records that I have to sort out.

So I guess I better get off the internet huh.

Spa Party

I went to a spa party Friday. I didn't really know what I was getting into. They had us use all kinds of hand lotion and face stuff.

The only bad thing was that we soaked our feet then rubbed them with something like salt. If I hadn't blistered the bottoms of my feet Tuesday on the hot pavement it would have felt good, but now my feet are sore from the stuff we rubbed on them.

Lakeview home

My Dad had told me that he could see the lake from the top of his house, but I had never been up there.

He got the ladder and we both went up to the highest part. He walked and I sort of crawled up like a crab.

He did get me to stand up at the top and he was right, he does have a lake view home ;-)

I may try again in the winter when the tree leaves are not in the way.

Going to visit my parents

That means out of town until tomorrow. I wasn't going to do it, but they sounded lonesome on the phone. I'm just glad I can't hear the voice of the people on my blog, because I can't afford to come and visit you guys all the time ;-)

Photo Shoot

I did get to do the photo shoot and I learned a lot of things that
I was doing wrong.

I didn't have my camera set correctly. Shutter speed or picture resolution.

I did have the flash turned off and that is about the only thing I did right.

We may have to do it again, but there was one picture that I liked.

The one with the Moggy Orange box around it. If she is alright with this picture I will go ahead and get a canvas and start to get the drawing on it.

Photo Shoot

I'm hoping to get to do a photo shoot today, so I can start working on a new painting. It will probably be at a piano, since the lady who wants the painting writes and plays music. We may also try to get a shot of her actually writing the music, that would be neat too.

Gotta get to my day job, we have a lot going on at work and for some reason I really love it when were in the middle of a tough project.

Hot Pavement

I went for a two mile walk after work with a young co-worker. I couldn't keep up with her and my shoes hurt my feet so I took them off. I burned a blister on the bottom of my driving foot ;-(

When I was a kid I could walk on hot pavement and not get hurt. Someone suggested I should have started earlier in the year while the weather was cooler and built up to it, but I didn't. Maybe next year.

Still Losing

I don't mind being a loser if it means weight ;-)

I'm running out of time this morning, got to get to work and then Church.

Harry Potter

I got to see the new Harry Potter movie over the weekend. I really like those movies and I so need an outfit like the one the lady in pink was wearing. I also need to fix my hair like she had hers, she was so together looking ;-)

Besides the story, I love all the visual stuff that goes along with this type of movie. Hope everyone gets to see it.

I got my truck back

I did find a friend who would drive me to my truck. I barely made it back in time for Church. I didn't make it back for the singing part, but I did get there before the sermon started.

I didn't want to miss, because it was a continuation of last week and really good.

I need a ride south

I left my truck about 50 miles south of here and need someone to drop me off down there. I think my book with most of my friends phone numbers is in it and I just changed cell phones and don't have my numbers in that either ;-(

If anyone is going south (Sunday Only), or willing to take me to my truck, let me know.

Restless legs

I'm not sure why, but I had trouble sleeping last night. I am not usually someone who has trouble sleeping. When I was still a kid at home, my Dad would say "there's no rest for the wicked" if I would complain of having trouble sleeping.

I did leave work early and drive about 300 miles ending up back at my house. Maybe my legs wanted to walk a little.

Cleaning House

I've been working on my house and I have to say it's coming along. I still have a lot to do. I really let things go when I was sick (by the way I'm still coughing, but I'm much better)

It's way past my bedtime, so I guess I better hit the sack.

The Holy Pokey

The Holy Pokey

You put your whole self in,
You put your old self out;
You put your whole self in,
And you turn your life about.
You wont wind up in the Pokey
And God turns your life around.
That's what it's all about!

I can't really explain this, but after Church last night someone (not me) was goofing off doing the Hokey Pokey and it made me think of changing the lyrics.

Spreading Out

I got out some of my spreadsheets.

One is for losing weight, I have a place to put my current weight and my ideal weight, then formulas so I can keep track of progress. I should put in inches, but I don't think I will go that far. And....

One for the money.

Two for the chores.

Three for big life events I'm trying to remember.

Maybe I can combine them all into one big FatMoneyLifeEventChore spreadsheet ;-)

Sidekick

The sermon yesterday at my church was about being and having a sidekick. He made all of us hold up our foot up to the side and it looked pretty funny ;-)

You would have to be there, but the point was that we need each other and when you are down someone else can lift you up. Then where they are down you can lift them up. Maybe not with a kick, but with words or help.

They're companions - the hero and the sidekick.” - Laurence Shames [I am not sure what Laurence meant, but I'm thinking that everyone may think of you as a failure, but if you were the sidekick to someone they think is a success, then that success is also your success]

Sunday Driver

I went to the Cowboy Church with Art Girl and then we went to a little old house turned into a diner. Took Art Girl home.

I had just enough time to make it to my Church evening service, out to eat with my Church friends and then to the park to walk with some of them. It was getting dark when we finished walking. Now it's good to be home.

Visiting an old museum

Art girl and I went to an old museum and they had a really old printing press. I'm so glad I don't have to make my cartoon on one of those. That must have been a lot of work to put a newspaper together years ago. I'm amazed that anyone ever put something like that together.

We did some drawing and watched some videos. I didn't get done what I intended to, but you really didn't expect that did you ;-)

Going to the country

I'm taking off work a little early and running by to pick up Art-girl and we are going to the country to spend a little time. I will be away from the computer for most of the Day and all day Saturday and then probably go to the Cowboy Church and then head home some time Sunday in time to go to my Church.

I'm going to take my camera and get some pictures.

Butter vs margarine

I got an email telling how bad margarine is and that it is just one molecule away from being plastic. I don't think the second part is true, but I do think it's not as good for you as real butter.

I do wonder what kind of shape those of us who didn't eat real food will be in as we get older.

July 4th

My fireworks were the fire ants in a really soft mound that I stepped in when I was mowing and a stick that I ran over with the lawnmower. The noise was the stick popping when the lawnmower broke it and me yelling when the fire ants were biting me.

I did see some fireworks at a distance, but I didn't attend any displays.

Old black and white tv shows

I found a place to watch old tv shows and movies.

I know I'm trying to stay away from the computer, but this was when I was taking a break. I watched an old movie "Pot o’ Gold" with Jimmy Stewart in it.

Something happened to my phone

I heard my cell phone ring twice and then hit the floor. When I came in, it was in a couple of pieces on the floor.

I tried to put it back together and it wouldn't work, so I looked some more and the battery was still on the floor. Strangely enough the person who called was able to leave a message.

Bowling

Went bowling with friends yesterday.

We got them to put bumpers up on the lane that some of us were on. That way the ball can't go in the gutter ;-)
